Meet Tegan White! Tegan grew up in the quaint town of Oakley in western Kansas. Now, she resides in Salina with her husband, attending Salina Area Technical College to become a registered dental hygienist. Tegan has a passion for thrifting, flipping furniture, and crafting homemade goodies in her kitchen. Her latest obsession? Creating health shots!

After high school, Tegan moved to Manhattan, Kansas, where she attended Manhattan Christian College, earning an associate’s degree in general studies. She and her husband lived there for another year while he finished his studies and she applied to the dental hygiene program in Salina. This move to Salina felt right, as its small-town charm reminded Teagan of home.

In the year they’ve been in Salina, Tegan and her husband bought their first home and have enjoyed renovating it to make it their own. They also started a garden this year, adding another layer of joy to their new life.

When she’s not busy with school or home projects, you might find Tegan at 1858, savoring her favorite drink: an iced Americano with sweet cream.

Meet Sofia, a proud native of Salina and a soon-to-be Senior at South High.
Her world is brightened by her adorable kitten, Pepper, who always keeps her on her toes. When she's not hanging out at the coffee shop, you can find her knitting cozy creations while grooving to her vinyl collection-there's nothing like the crackle of a record!
On the courts, Sofia is a tennis enthusiast, and when it comes to track, she soars over hurdles and nails the triple jump. Her aspirations are sky-high with dreams of becoming an ENT doctor, blending her passion for helping others with her fascination for the medical field.
When it comes to fueling her day, the Santa Fe drink from 1858 Coffee House is her go-to, though she also can't resist a refreshing Pineapple smoothie. Life is sweet in Salina, and she's excited for all the adventures that lie ahead!

Meet Adele, born and raised in Salina but currently making waves in the KC area while attending Park University for Graphic Design. During the school year, she embraces the vibrant city life, fueling her creative passions and honing her artistic skills.

Adele’s family consists of her supportive parents, little sister, and their two beloved dogs, Otis and Olive. In her free time, Adele is a thrifting enthusiast, concert-goer, and movie buff, often sharing laughs and popcorn with friends. Her eclectic taste in music is always evolving, and she loves capturing life’s fleeting moments through her film camera lens.

Adele’s biggest goal right now is to graduate early, showcasing her dedication and ambition. When she needs a caffeine boost, her go-to drinks from 1858 Coffee House are an Iced Muir Macchiato or, when she’s feeling adventurous, a triple shot dirty chai. Life for Adele is a blend of creativity, ambition, and a touch of caffeine, making every day an exciting adventure!

Meet Kirsten Speilman!
Kirsten’s journey has taken her through various places, each adding a unique chapter to her story. She spent her early years in Salina until she was around 9 or 10, then moved to the quaint town of Havana in northwest Arkansas. Unlike its namesake in Cuba, this Havana quickly humbled her hopes of tropical vibes. After high school, Kirsten ventured to Missouri, living in the picturesque town of Osage Beach at the heart of the Lake of the Ozarks, before eventually returning to settle back in Salina.

When she’s not brewing up a magical drink at the coffee house, Kirsten immerses herself in painting and her studies at Hays Academy of Hair Design. Passionate about all things hair and skin, she dedicates her spare time to perfecting her craft.

Kirsten cherishes every moment with her 2-year-old son, enjoys kayaking, and embraces all things outdoors. Her household includes her little boy, a cat named Clyde, and a dog named Sadie.
Set to graduate in September with her cosmetology certification, Kirsten often says she’s “so close but not close enough.” Her dreams for the future are grand, aiming to open a coffee shop and beauty bar that combines her love for skincare and healthy living.

Kirsten’s current favorite drink at 1858 is the Muir Macchiato, with the Indian Rock as a close runner-up.

Meet one of our AMAZING baristas, Grace!

Growing up in Abilene and making the big move to Salina at 16, Grace has built a life full of unique passions and aspirations. She loves getting lost in a good book, bringing her artistic flair to coloring, and relaxing with episodes of Abbott Elementary and Adventure Time. Her family includes her dad, mom and stepdad, and two younger siblings, whom she adores more than anything.

Grace shares her home with a charming cat named Latte. This fall, she’s embarking on an exciting new journey at mortuary school, with dreams of one day owning her own funeral home. Her favorite drinks are a Smoky Hill sugar-free with white mocha and a vanilla matcha with energy, perfect for her bustling days.

Grace has a soft spot for the color green, the scent of Glossier’s “You” fragrance, stylish acrylic nails, and everything shark-related. By day, she’s a dedicated barista, and by night, she transforms into a bar server—almost like a modern-day Batman, if Batman loved coffee and cocktails.

Meet Mary King! Born and raised in Rochester, NY, Mary has also called Lake Forest, Illinois home before settling in Salina, KS. She absolutely loves doing theater and being involved in shows at Theatre Salina. Her dog, Lily, is her constant companion and brings so much joy to her life. You can see her in Theatre Salina’s production of “The Prom”THIS WEEKEND AND NEXT! Mary is hoping to go back to school soon to get a master's in Psychology. Oh, and she can't start her day without a cold brew with sweet cream! It is a must try! And if you stop in on a Saturday, you will most likely run into our girl Mary!

Macie, a Derby, KS native, now resides in Salina, where she’s passionately pursuing her dream of becoming a dental hygienist at Salina Tech. Her summers are filled with sun-soaked days at the lake, and she loves the thrill of discovering treasures at the bin store in her spare time. 🌊🛍️

Macie and her fiancé share their home with a beautiful Siamese cat named Serafina. Excitement is in the air as it’s her birthday, followed by her wedding in August. 💍🎉

With just one year left until she earns her credentials as a registered dental hygienist, the future looks bright. 🦷🪥

Macie’s go-to drink is the iced Cambell, which delightfully tastes like wedding cake. 🎂🍰

Meet our Director of Operations at 1858 Coffee House✨

Morgan Baughman, a native of Salina, KS, now thrives as the Director of Operations at 1858 Coffee House. With a passion for coffee culture and a drive for excellence, Morgan brings a unique blend of hometown roots and professional expertise to the heart of the business.

Morgan spends her time outside of the coffee shop with very full hands and heart, keeping busy with her young family of five; as well as recently awarded the first place winner of the 2024 Charlie Walker Pitch Challenge which she used the winnings to make her own business come to life, a soap refill and sustainable home goods store, called The Refillery. The Refillery - Salina, KS can be found Saturdays at the downtown Salina Farm & Art Market from 7:30a-11a:30a.

Morgan loves Beyonce and her family fiercely, loves thrifting and gardening or tending to houseplants.. which she hopes desperately not to kill in the beautifully busy season of life.
