It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kevin McKenzie, the first of the McKenzie Taxidermy employees. Kevin's dedication and kindness left an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Kevin's retirement never severed the bonds he formed with us; many of us never lost touch with him, a testament to the profound impact he had on our lives. Kevin treated everyone he encountered with warmth and respect, regardless of their role within the company. His genuine interest in and care for each employee extended beyond professional interactions; he took the time to ask about our families, and he remembered the names of our children, making everyone feel seen and valued.
Kevin had a smile that could light up any room and a wonderful sense of humor that brought joy to all around him. His ability to make others laugh and feel comfortable was a gift that enriched our workplace and our lives.
Kevin's dedication to the company was unwavering. He not only nurtured a culture where employees felt like family but also believed deeply in the value of each customer. His ideas and innovations revolutionized and enriched the company, enabling it to excel in the multifaceted challenges of running a successful business.
Not only did his dedication touch thousands of customers, but his commitment to their satisfaction set a standard of excellence that resonates to this day.
Whether a spouse passed, or a personal tragedy occurred, Kevin always reached out to let you know he was there, and his words did not fall short. He truly was one of the most influential people in the lives of so many.
Kevin's legacy is one of kindness, empathy, and genuine human connection. His presence brightened our days, and his memory will continue to inspire us to treat others with the same compassion and respect that he exemplified. We will miss him dearly, but his spirit will always remain a part of the McKenzie family.

We saw this wonderful tribute to Don Holt by Breakthrough Magazine. All of us at McKenzie were sad to hear of Don's passing. He touched many lives in the taxidermy community and was actively working on several projects with McKenzie when we heard of his passing. We are praying for his family during this difficult time and hope to continue his legacy by offering the many items he's created during his life's work.

A tribute to our friend Don Holt, from Larry Blomquist

We received the sad news of the passing of Texas taxidermist Don Holt who died Saturday, January 27, 2024. Don was a past World Champion for gameheads and former president on the National Taxidermists Association. I was honored to know Don and was one of the two judges who selected his axis deer entry at the 1987 World Show. His taxidermy was far ahead of any I had judged at that time. His work inspired so many others to achieve the realistic mounts we see today.

Along with his many award-winning mounts and artistic skills as a taxidermist, he was a master sculptor. He supplied our industry with many forms that are still prized and used by studios today.

He was a valued friend of ours, writing articles for Breakthrough and giving many seminars sharing his knowledge and techniques with other aspiring taxidermists.

I can truly say he was not only a gifted artist, unique personality, and most importantly, Don was a devoted reborn Christian who will be missed by all who knew Don. We send our sincere condolences to his family and friends.
