Drechselwerkstatt Uhlig or DWU Smokers

For many years the Uhlig family has long been associated with the traditional Erzgebirge wood turning and carving arts.

In 1990 the family turned their hobby into a profession and founded the family business, “DWU - Drechselwerkstatt (turning workshop) Uhlig”. Just four years later, the old production facility had become too small. They moved to a new building and expanded our range of products.

All smokers from the turning workshop Uhlig are manufactured out of local wood in Aue in the Ore Mountains. For example they use pine, ash or beech. The individual vein of the wood makes beautiful design effects and gives the figurines a special natural charm. Other characteristic features of the Uhlig gnomes are their fluffy hair and beards in different color shades.
