The begin tomorrow in Paris, and the University of Utah will be represented by paracyclist & alum Dennis Connors. He got his Master’s from the U in 2014, and served nine years in the Marine Corps and completed three deployments in Iraq. He has won the U.S. Paracycling Men’s Trike National Championship six times and is also a member of the team. Good luck, Dennis!

A historic land transfer & relocation agreement was announced today at a groundbreaking in Bluffdale. In exchange for a new Army Reserve headquarters at Camp Williams, the remaining 50 acres of Ft. Douglas, which was established in 1862, will become University property beginning in 2026. While plans for this land is still in the works, it will allow us to expand the services and opportunities for students and the community.

This year’s Ivory Community Leadership Award goes to Jennifer Rodela. Throughout her time at the U, she has demonstrated exceptional leadership and a firm commitment to service.

Rodela joined the Basic Needs Collective as a programming intern and quickly proved herself to be a dedicated, thoughtful & conscientious student employee. Her exceptional contributions led to her promotion to the role of Basic Needs programming lead.

Among her many accomplishments, Rodela organized and led a winter clothing drive, which successfully collected over 100 articles of clothing for students in need. This initiative has since evolved into the Basic Needs Thrift Pop-up Shop, which provides a rotating variety of gently used donated items that are always free.
