"At the 11th Hour of the 11th Day of the 11th Month"...
On behalf of everyone here at Rothe, we send out a great thanks to all Veterans on this Veteran's day. We couldn't do the work we do without the many Veterans on the Rothe team, and the country and the world wouldn't be the same without Veterans everywhere.

RDI is always excited to share its history and impact.
This past week, our VP Dale Patenaude and Cost Proposal Specialist/Social Media lead Eric Patenaude were honored to be visited by the San Antonio Express News for a story on ways that local San Antonio businesses have and continue to impact the nation's space program. The article was published online late last week and hit the news stands in the Sunday business insert.

Today we continue the highlight on Rothe team members and their contribution toward the NASA Commercial Crew Program Launch to the ISS THIS AFTERNOON!
On our CMC subcontract, Brandon Cadenas, Jimmy Turner, John South, and other logistics technicians and engineers have packed and processed cargo that will be launched with the astronauts (NASA never misses a cargo launch opportunity!) Packing and processing involves properly protecting, labeling, and sanitizing the cargo then shipping it from the Houston cargo facility to Florida for installation. Nominal cargo was received in Florida and installed on the vehicle Tuesday afternoon.

NASA is ready to Launch America Wednesday afternoon at 3:33PM Central. The Space X Demo-2 Commercial Crew Launch represents the first set of NASA astronauts launched to orbit from American soil since the last Space Shuttle launch in July of 2011.
In its role supporting NASA through a variety of contracts and subcontracts at Johnson Space Center, Rothe is celebrating this week the ways it directly supports this mission and its objectives.
Isaac Purvis is a Software Developer on our JOIST contract with NASA Johnson Space Center's Flight Operations Division (FOD). The software development team he's a part of recently updated and improved NASA FOD Commercial Crew Program (CCP) Certification Evaluation and Reporting Tool (CCP Cert). NASA completes a detailed set of Safety and Mission-related certifications prior to each mission’s start, and the CCP Cert tool is used to collect, evaluate, and report the evidence needed to support each certification.
This updated tool, given a more modern and responsive user interface and experience by the team this past February, showed it ability to improve productivity of NASA Engineers and Evaluators facing large amounts of data in the last few months leading up to next week’s launch. It will also continue to do so through future CCP launches by both Space-X and Boeing.
Rothe is proud of Isaac, the software development team he’s a part of on JOIST, and all of our team members who are doing their part to help Launch America. Go NASA!

A great photo and story to share today from a Rothe Enterprises employee (REI is an affiliate of Rothe Development). John Heinz is a Senior Mobile Telemetry Technician working on a recently started subcontract to KBR serving NASA at its Wallops Flight Facility (WFF) in Wallops Island, Virginia. John and other Technicians serving in Mobile Telemetry as well as Radar and Data Quality/Processing disciplines provide support to the facility and its mission of rocket launches for the purpose of science and exploration for NASA and other federal agencies. REI technicians maintain, repair, upgrade, and ensure the proper operation of radar and telemetry antennae like the one above for tracking location and data from the launched vehicles as well as military aircraft. WFF antennae within this scope of work include a wide variety, even some that were used to track Apollo missions. While the majority of the work happens on this remote coast of Virginia, additional work is done in even more remote locations such as Alaska and Bermuda.
John also enjoys photography and took this beautiful picture of a 6-meter telemetry tracking antenna, the newest at WFF. John developed his interest in photography while on deployment in Fairbanks, Alaska, has had several of his pictures published in the local Wallops Exchange and Morale Association (WEMA) weekly newsletter, and loves all of the opportunities that the NASA facility provides him for beautiful shots such as this one.
Rothe thanks John for the amazing photo and the opportunity to share about the quality work that he and the rest of our subcontract does for our NASA customer and its mission.

Rothe Congratulates Clay Horn, son of Rothe NBL Drafter/Designer Jay Horn, on another milestone in his personal and athletic recovery following traumatic injuries suffered during the May 2018 Santa Fe High School shooting.

Clay competes as a senior pole vaulter on the varsity track team, recently winning his home meet Reggie Crosby invitational on March 1st (photos attached) hosted at the school. His story of determination, perseverance, focus, will, resolve, and dedication in the face of severe adversity was recently profiled in the Galveston Daily News (link below, subscription required) and Jay's personal pride for his son's triumph prompted his sharing of the story with us.

The profile highlights Clay's infectious enthusiasm, sunny disposition, optimism, positive attitude, and humility as contributing to his accomplishment of returning to the sport so quickly following his injuries and six months of physical therapy. He talked about getting back to pole vaulting while still in the hospital and made his first meet in December. He also describes the ordeal as not being as painful as an ankle injury sustained while bull riding. Clay credits the community and emotional support of his teammates for his continuing success. He hopes to continue pole vaulting in college.

Rothe appreciates its team members and by extension all of their family members. Clay's story is an inspiration to us all and one that like Jay we are also proud to share.

Along with sweeping awards in the bowling tournament, Rothe had the ability to honor Veterans today for tomorrow's Veteran's Day. Joel and Will joined the line of veterans, and represent a small set of Rothe's proud and diverse group of military veterans on our team.

Many of our government service contracts with DoD over the years have included retired veterans (some of the best which we've pulled into the home office at contract end), and the vast majority of our quality calibration technicians in both San Antonio and Houston carry on the fine tradition of quality skill and service they learned while in the military. From the beginning of the Rothe Brothers serving Brooks Army Medical Research Center to today, providing quality service to our nation's military is in our company DNA.

Rothe honors all Veterans and wishes them the best on this upcoming 100th anniversary of Armistice day.

Rothe in the SAMA Bowling Tournament 11/10/2018

Team members Will Wright, Sherise Campbell, and Eric Patenaude contributed to Joel and Kayla's excellent bowling days to push the team over the top.
Congrats to the team and a huge thank you to SAMA for the wonderful event contributing to a huge donation to the San Antonio Food Bank!

Rothe Team Member Highlight!

Rothe congratulates NBL diver Mitch Acampora on the 4th pressurized space suit subject run of his NBL diver career on this past Friday. The event was part of Egress Day, done quarterly to train the team of safety divers, test directors, and medical staff on emergency scenarios requiring quick and safe ascents from lower depths to the surface.

An NBL diver's duties typically involve supporting suited astronauts and astronaut candidates practicing spacewalks in the simulated weightlessness of the pool. On this day, though, the more experienced and qualified divers get the honor and privilege to suit up as the astronaut in order to provide practice and certification opportunities to the whole NBL team in challenging situations. This represents a rite of passage for the divers who pass grueling oral exams and training time toward certification. The training equips the team to be prepared to save lives in the hazardous environment of the NBL and allows divers like Mitch the ability to have a unique perspective of the astronauts' suited capabilities and limitations.

We are proud of Mitch and his passion, professionalism, and pride in his work. He described to us wanting to be as realistic of an astronaut stand-in as possible, including performing typical spacewalk tasks so that the training divers got the most possible learning and experience out of the day. He also described the joy of picking the music for the whole team to listen to while waiting (Castles Made of Sand by Jimi Hendrix), a tradition for any suited astronaut training in the NBL. He wore the red stripe suit and was referred to during the event as EV1.

Mitch is one of Rothe's many excellent team members consistently doing quality work across the NBL on the NBL Ops contact as a subcontractor to Raytheon in areas of diving, manufacturing, and test operations.

Rothe team members pictured with Mitch in the spacesuit- Rothe NBL Supervisor Noe Segura in a black and red polo, technician Curtis Pickens in a Rothe blue polo, and machinist Reyes Vega in Astros gear.
