What is Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)?
DVT is a blood clot that forms in the deep veins, which can be dangerous if it travels to the lungs, causing a pulmonary embolism (PE). In some cases, clots can lead to a stroke. DVTs can happen due to poor blood flow, vein injury, or increased clotting factors. They may be unprovoked or caused by a known risk factor. Stay informed, stay safe!
