Include Me
Working together for an inclusive Texas!Building up social skills can help enhance independence, participation in the community and friendships
In Home Training and consultation services: The focus of in-home training is to assist your child to generalize skills and apply skills at home, these include chores, self care and overall any independence skill. The focus of In-Home training is your child. Utilizing in-home trainers, targeted skills/behaviors mastered in other settings will be generalized to the home and/or community settings. Initially, the home trainer will be primarily responsible for implementation of the generalization activities.
As generalization occurs, training will shift from the trainer to the parents (via parent training) to facilitate long-term maintenance of the target skills/behaviors. In addition to the generalization aspect, this service may also be considered appropriate for teaching priority skills/behaviors in the home setting that otherwise would be difficult or less appropriate to address in other settings.

Why is this so difficult for our society to understand?!??
If a child struggles to “sit still and listen” perhaps sitting still is NOT the way they are able to listen...it’s okay!!!! We don’t need to “fix that child”, we need to fix the environment. We need to find ways to meet each child’s needs!
Is this hard? YES!
Is it made harder by ridiculously large classroom sizes? YES!
Is it possible? YES!
I know many teachers who have had grand success with flexible seating in their classrooms.
Granted, this is just ONE of many examples of how changing the environment can help every “flower” bloom.
What are some other ways YOU have successfully changed (fixed) the environment to meet the unique needs of each child?
