Ragw**d looks fern-like. It can be hairy. Common ragw**d may have little green flowers at the end of its branches.

If you find some in your yard you can pull or mow it just be sure to throw it out - don’t use it in compost, say experts.

As an allergist I can tell you that I expect ragw**d pollen will become a problem in the next few weeks. It can cause hay fever & a slew of other allergy-related issues through the fall!

Megan started allergy shots following what she describes as a really tough season last year!

What’s crazy?
Megan has always known she is allergic to mountain cedar but could tolerate it in years past! But after spending 4 years away from San Antonio during college and then returning ... Megan's symptoms became unbearable!

She broke out in hives.

Her eyes swelled so badly that she couldn’t drive.

She even ended up in the ER multiple times!

Mountain cedar not only made Megan 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 miserable, it had disrupted her life.

Today, Megan is on allergy shots 🙌, the only treatment for long-lasting relief. She's almost at her prescribed maintenance dose! At that point her immune system is being desensitized.

That means her body should no longer react when it’s exposed to cedar pollen!

Post-nasal drip brought this new patient in to see us recently ... You might know that uncomfortable feeling when you clear your throat in a public place over & over and people look at you ... 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵'𝘴 what Cheryl said was really driving her crazy!

Cheryl told us she had seen several doctors. She was even diagnosed with silent acid reflux. But when prescription medication still didn't fix the problem, a friend suggested she see an Allergist.

The goal?

💉Traditional takes 3-6 months.
💉Cluster buildup gets you to your maintenance a lot faster. It requires you to come in more often and for longer periods.

Some insurances will cover clusters.. Either path will ultimately get you to a maintenance dose which is administeted in a quick & painless monthly injection!

This⇡ is what 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥 looks like! Our patient is 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘀𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀😃 now on allergy shot treatment for a year!

Before allergy immunotherapy Eryn says she was always sick and felt exhausted. In fact 1 spring she battled a sinus infection & was miserable for 6 straight weeks 😱

The turning point? Her allergy skin test result! Eryn says her back lit up with positives - reactions to so many allergens!

ER visits due to pollen overload 🌳 are now a thing of the past for this young patient of ours! 𝑻𝒉𝒂𝒕’𝒔 the difference getting allergy shots 💉 has made in his life! And it’s h•u•g•e!

8-year-old Jonas hasn’t had a single respiratory infection since starting his immunotherapy treatment a little over a year ago!

Prior to allergy shots Jonas would typically miss 5-6 days of school at a time throughout the different allergy seasons 😱

Guess what?! This kiddo hasn’t had to miss a day. 𝑨𝒏𝒅! He plays baseball so he's outside a ton right now during this peak oak pollen time.
