We are offering 2025 grants to qualifying artists based in San Antonio. These grants support a diverse portfolio of artists in their creation of new original work in the literary arts, media arts, multi-disciplinary arts, performing arts, and visual arts. Offered annually, Artists Grants are available for individual artists as well as those working in collaborations, collectives, and ensembles.

🖼Red Dot featured artist Rubio’s graphite drawing, “BIG RED,” is a part of his new series, “Made in Berlin.” The drawing reminds the artist of San Antonio’s annual Fiesta, where there were stretched glass bottles given as prizes at Market Square. ♉️From the series “Novios” or “Lovers” Red Dot featured artist Richard "Ricky" Armendariz highlights couples dancing at local Honky-tonks and Tejano Bars. The woodblock prints move somewhere between the Novios dancing as if nobody's watching and basking in everyone watching. The chosen colors highlight the significance of their astrological sign— in this case Ta**us, an earth sign with a strong desire to be surrounded by love and beauty.

Over the weekend, artist Nate Cassie collaborated with our MOSAIC Student Artists to construct custom benches for the upcoming renovation of the MOSAIC Student Artist Studio and Gallery coming in 2024. The newly remodeled gallery, designed by Lake|Flato, will offer an expanded and improved environment for our MOSAIC Student Artists and the public to engage in the creation and exploration of contemporary art!
Thank you to our friends for their generosity, including Jeff Truax of Truax Construction for the walnut from his ranch to create the benches, and to the Kronkosky Charitable Foundation for their support of the renovation.
We can’t wait to welcome everyone to visit the space soon!

Seva-Art Exhibition and Reception | First Friday, December 1, 2023 | 6:00-7:30pm | MOSAIC Studio
Join us for a San Antonio Food Bank fundraiser with the Contemporary at Blue Star and Seva-Art. This exhibition and reception features 68 student works from Bexar County artists in grades 6th–12th. There will be an awards ceremony and an opportunity to view and purchase student work. The proceeds will be shared with the artist and the San Antonio Food Bank to support Seva-Art’s ‘Community Builds Community’ mission.
About Seva-Art: Community builds community. Seva-Art is a nonprofit that was started by a 14-year-old girl, Rabani Bajaj, who has a passion for arts and the San Antonio community. Seva-Art’s mission is to cultivate San Antonio students’ talent for art through this youth showcase while supporting the greater community. This is the first of what will be an annual event going forward.

Join the Contemporary Staff for Yoga in the Gallery led by Lesley Ramsey, founder of BeCause Yoga. Yoga in the Gallery is an adaptive yoga class for adults that includes:
■ postures tailored to each individual’s needs;
■ gentle movement sequences to help improve the body’s movement patterns, range of motion, strength and flexibility;
■ yogic breath techniques;
■ somatic experiencing; and
■ guided relaxation.
This class is designed to accommodate participants with a range of physical abilities. Chairs can be provided for individuals with difficulty getting up and down from the floor.
