SWAT GRADUATION ๐ฅณ
We want to congratulate and welcome three new members to our SWAT team. These individuals went through an intense 120-hour course at the SBSO SWAT school. They are trained to handle situations that regular first responders can't, making them valuable assets to the SBPD team and the community. Congratulations!

SAFELY DONE ๐จ
Recently, officers responded to a report of a man pointing a firearm at another driver. Upon arrival, the suspect's vehicle failed to yield, leading to a pursuit. Once the car was stopped, the suspect refused to cooperate and posed a risk that prevented officers from safely approaching. Eventually, the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.
The suspect was arrested on felony charges.

COMMERCIAL VEHICLE UPDATE
The City of San Bernardino has implemented new restrictions on commercial vehicles traveling on Pepper Ave, University Pkwy, and Kendall Dr to enhance public safety and preserve road quality. These restrictions were based on engineering studies and resident complaints. City crews have installed traffic signs informing drivers of the commercial restrictions on the restricted roadways.
SBPD is committed to ensuring commercial vehicles' safety and proper operation on city roadways. For more information, please visit the sbcity.org website @ https://www.sbcity.org/city_hall/public_works/engineering_division/traffic

Yesterday, we held our annual Coptober Fest and invited the community to join us. Everyone had a fantastic time, with over 1,700 attendees at the event! We enjoyed a train ride, bowling, live performances, and even a petting zoo. Plus, Storm Troopers made a special appearance! Thank you to everyone who participated. ๐ We love engaging with our community and demonstrating what community policing means to us.
We look forward to seeing you next year! ๐ป
NOT ON OUR STREETS
Recently, our MET team partnered with local schools to address their concerns directly. One issue expressed was the gang-affiliated graffiti in close vicinity to the schools. The officers took it upon themselves to paint-match and paint over the graffiti. The effort was well worth it, as we saw the excitement of the community members and students first-hand!
EOW Gerald Steven Silvestri๐๏ธ๐
Today marks the 24th anniversary of the death of Officer Gerald Steven Silvestri, who died in the line of duty while proudly serving the City of San Bernardino. On October 13, 2000, just before midnight, Officer Silvestri was responding to backup another officer who was contacting a suspected auto thief who reportedly was armed with a gun. As he rushed to the scene, Officer Silvestri hit a bump in the street as he approached Mt Vernon Avenue. He lost control of his car and crashed into a large oak tree. He was rushed to the hospital, where he later died of his injuries.
Although you are no longer with us, you remain in our hearts, and we will never forget your sacrifice.
