DIFFUSING A SITUATION

Last month, Officers responded to Baseline Street at Waterman Avenue regarding an adult male blocking the roadway. Officers made contact with him, but he appeared distraught. Chaplain Glass was on a ride-a-long with one of the officers and witnessed the distraught male. The Chaplain was able to calm the individual down and diffuse the situation. He was taken to a local hospital for mental health treatment.

Our Police Chaplains routinely ride with our officers approximately 20 hours per month. They are a beneficial asset to our Department and fall under the umbrella of Volunteer Services.

In late July, officers were dispatched to the areas of W. 48th and N. Orange Streets regarding a man threatening another person with a firearm. He was found to be a felon in possession of a firearm and had a warrant out for his arrest.

EDGEHILL FIRE - Day 2 Update

The fire is 75% contained and is no longer actively progressing. One Firefighter received minor injuries, and no civilians were injured. Fire personnel and law enforcement will remain in the affected area today as temperatures are expected to be in the 100s again with an excessive heat warning. Road closures are still in effect for Circle Road, Vista Drive, Hillhurst Drive, and parts of Edgehill Road. This is to ensure emergency personnel can quickly respond and keep the area under control.

Cajon High School has been designated as the Reception Center, where those affected by the fire can go to receive information. The fire's origin has been narrowed down to the general area of the 3300 block of Beverly Drive. Arson investigators are still on scene determining the cause and a more precise origin of the fire.

08/06/2024

UPDATE

Evacuation orders are going to remain in effect for all affected areas previously mentioned other than Ridgeline Drive, which is now open. County Fire personnel and San Bernardino Police Officers will be working diligently throughout the night to ensure the safety of our residents. At this point, the fire is very much under control. The person of interest who was detained has since been released. Arson investigators are still assessing the scene to determine where the origin of the fire was and how it started.

PURSUIT ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Officers recently conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that didn't have any license plates. Officers approached the car and the driver refused to cooperate with commands. She eventually rolled up the window and locked the doors. The driver started the car and began to flee, resulting in a vehicle pursuit. In conclusion of the pursuit, the driver stopped in a field where the bottom of the car ignited from dry brush. Officers removed the driver from the vehicle placing her under arrest on felony charges. The fire was extinguished shortly after and no one was injured.
