This week’s heatwave in San Diego is no joke. 🥵
Today I am extra grateful for air conditioning!

Thankfully it’s cooling down tomorrow so we can capture more gorgeous beach sessions like this one. How beautiful is the S. Family? I’ve worked with them for three years and the kids keep getting more adorable.
Toddlers and preschool aged kids will get wet at the beach, probably before you’re hoping they will. They’ll get sandy and might stick their hands in the mud and directly wipe on their new clothes within minutes of setting foot on the sand. They’ll stare at the incoming waves approaching their feet for half the session. It’s all okay. Look how sweet and beautiful these moments are. Trying to force little ones to stare at a camera or stay completely clean when there is so much excitement around them is not always feasible. My best advice is to let go of all expectations. The results are better that way. :)

It may technically still be summer, but fall sessions are in full effect! I had the best time with the P family at Iron Mt this week. The weather was unusually cool and when they walked up in those cute outfits, I was instantly excited for fall, pumpkin spice lattes, apple cider and sweater weather. A girl can dream, right?
False fall? Probably. Us native San Diegans know the heat hasn't even arrived yet, but I will continue to dream of those cool October nights that will be here before you know it.

Morning sessions seem to bring out the joyful toddlers and preschoolers rather than waiting for sunset.
I love this location in La Jolla for many reasons: easy parking, shade, pretty atmosphere and it's on the coast so it's nice and cool on hot summer days.

I love that they planned a photoshoot while visiting from Texas just to celebrate their love. It turned out to be the most gorgeous evening.

Class of 2025- Now is the time to book your Senior Portrait session if you want a beach session or fall tones. My favorite months for beach sessions are October, November, December, January due to the low tides, softer light and dry air (less marine layer and beautiful sunset tones.)
If you want spring flowers or green hills, book for March, April or May.

Fall Location Spotlight: Flinn Springs Park

Flinn Springs is located in east county, has plenty of parking, beautiful oak and sycamore trees to provide shade during the hotter months and a seasonal creek runs through the park. The creek may be dry during summer/fall but the large rocks and boulders are some of my favorite details for portraits here.

PRESIDIO PARK
Over the past few years I've had clients express how much they appreciate morning sessions when they have little ones. Kids are well rested from a good night's sleep, have just eaten breakfast and are ready for a fun adventure. No stress about a skipped nap-time or sessions encroaching upon dinner and bedtime. Bonus, you have the rest of your day free after your session to do anything on your weekend calendar! This season LBBP is offering several morning locations to accommodate these requests, including Presidio Park. Mornings at Presidio have crisp, cool air since we are near the coast and the light is beautiful, even on overcast days. The Spanish style architecture and nearby trails give a nice variety of backdrops for your portraits.

The fall calendar is active and selling quickly, but I still need to share all the gorgeous sessions from spring. 😆 This was such a beautiful session with Julie and Hans. Her dress, their affection, the flowers... it was all perfect.

Fall Location Spotlight: Coastal Eucalyptus Grove

This is one of our annual Mini Session locations.
I've been using this location for nearly 10 years for good reason! PROS:
- There is parking just steps away and it is a compact location, so the smaller perimeter makes the session quick and easy.
- Beautiful light in both the morning and afternoon. (I highly recommend morning sessions for little ones.)
- The browns and neutral warm tones from the fallen leaves and tree trunks make it an ideal location for seasonal outfits that we love to wear during our fall portraits- show off your boots, sweaters with all the cute fall accessories.
- It's on the coast so even during those warm summer or fall days, there is usually a coastal breeze and it's shaded.
- Bring your pup! This is a good location for leashed dogs to join your session.

Location Spotlight: Old Poway Park
OPP is a client favorite for fall mini sessions. The railroad details are loved by kids and the rust and wood tones add a warm, seasonal feel. There are many options for backdrops in both the morning and afternoon light, but it's a great location, especially for family and kids' photos.
*Beat the heat and schedule a morning session. Have the rest of your day free after your family's portraits and make a morning of it with breakfast at one of the nearby restaurants.

The most requested beach locations are full by August so don't wait too long. I pick these dates based on seasonal tides and usual weather patterns. After 10 years I definitely have favorite dates for different locations. :)

Hi friends! I have a last minute opening for this Tuesday and Wednesday at 6pm.
Who wants wildflower portraits before they are gone for the season? Isn't it beautiful??

I can't just choose one so all ten will have to do.
It's just about last call for spring sessions. I have a handful of locations that are staying strong with vibrant spring colors. This was over the weekend and still remains a favorite location, especially for senior portraits, kids' portraits and Mommy & Me sessions. The light is beautiful, the colors are beautiful and I know it like the back of my hand so we can capture all of this in 20 minutes. I have one spot this Thursday and one spot on Friday evening. People often ask what my favorite age is for photographing children. It's 2-5! I love the wonder in their eyes, the sweet and silly expressions and how they'll let me join their world of play and imagination.

Stella's 1st Birthday Smash and Splash was so pretty! This is my favorite location in May for wildflowers. The light yesterday was warm and beautiful right before sunset and makes those bloom pop! Miss Stella, what a doll.... I can't wait to show her Mama all the beautiful pictures. 😍
