So often society attempts to convince us that exploring our dreams is only acceptable once you have "earned" leisure after labor. When surviving systems of oppression is framed as a privilege, dreaming is viewed as frivolous and more often than not inaccessible. That ain't it. Dreaming is revolutionary, ancestral, and necessary when it comes to building new worlds that are affirming and lit for all of us. It is a deliberate act of self and community care that subverts white failurism and all of its unlegendary children (anti-Blackness, queer/trans antagonism, ableism, etc.) This workshop offers a space to unpack the myths handed to us about dreaming, explore what dreamwork already looks like in our lives, and strategize on how to intentionally engage with dreaming as an ancestral, wellness and liberation practice.
This interactive and collaborative workshop will utilize artistic expression, generative discussion, and guided journaling as we collectively return to the dream space!
In honor of Women's History Month we “Celebrate Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.” The Women's Center welcomes the UC San Diego Community to our Kickoff event from 11AM-1PM in the Stage Room Friday March 1st, 2024. We will have refreshments, an EDI resource fair, and a facilitated painting session from artists at ArtBeat San Diego! Painting spots are first come, first served and limited to 40. All materials supplied. For questions or accommodations, please contact [email protected].
Culture is empowering and beautiful, it helps individuals remain grounded in their histories and provides guidance as we move through the world. However, many cultures also have underlying tones and traditions that can be harmful for members within that community. Come, share, and submit your art piece and take part in a conversation around the duality of culture at the Women’s Center on March 6, 2024 from 5-6 pm.
Join us for a one-of-a-kind experience that combines fast friendships, feminism, with creative craftsmanship! Grab your friends or come solo - everyone is welcome!
