🎉 ✊ Happy Juneteenth! On June 19, 1865, federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, to declare the end of the Civil War and the liberation of approximately 250,000 enslaved individuals in Texas. This momentous occasion occurred two years after President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation.

The Junior League of San Diego commemorates the emancipation of ALL enslaved individuals in the U.S. Let's reflect on history and promote unity and equality.

We're excited to announce that Catherine Spanbauer, a trailblazer in law enforcement, has been honored with the prestigious Elizebeth Smith Friedman Intelligence Award of Excellence. 🏅 This award is named in honor of Elizebeth Smith Friedman, ATF's first female Prohibition Investigator and accomplished Cryptanalyst, for her pioneering work in fighting one of the most perilous threats of the prohibition era. It recognizes Federal law enforcement intelligence professionals who have consistently demonstrated exceptional analytical skills, transformed information into actionable intelligence, pioneered innovative integration methods, and significantly enhanced national security and public safety. JLSD is privileged to welcome Catherine as our Membership Vice President-Elect for the upcoming League year. 🌟
