Much of the US is under a heat wave. Did you know that extreme heat can affect your mental well-being? Here's how heat waves can affect us:
- Increased Stress and Irritability: Prolonged exposure to high temperatures can raise stress levels and make us more irritable.
- Sleep Disturbances: Hot nights can disrupt our sleep, leading to mood swings and anxiety.
- Heat Exhaustion and Stroke: Severe heat can cause heat exhaustion or stroke, which can have serious neurological effects.
Take care of your mental health during heat waves by:
- Staying hydrated
- Seeking cool environments
- Prioritizing rest
Remember, your well-being matters! ๐
July is National Minority Mental Health Month! It's a time to recognize and address the unique mental health challenges faced by minority communities. One powerful way to nurture your mental well-being is through journaling.
Here are a few journaling tips to get you started:
Daily Reflections: Spend a few minutes each day writing about your thoughts and feelings. It's a great way to process emotions and gain insight into your mental health.
Gratitude Journal: List three things you're grateful for every day. This simple practice can boost your mood and help you focus on the positive.
Expressive Writing: Write about your experiences, especially those related to your cultural background and identity. It can be a therapeutic way to understand and honor your journey.
Goal Setting: Use your journal to set and track personal goals. Whether it's related to your mental health, career, or personal growth, seeing your progress in writing can be incredibly motivating.
Remember, taking time for self-care is vital. Let's break the stigma and support mental health awareness in all communities. ๐
Today marks the anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, a pivotal moment in the fight for LGBTQ+ rights. On this day in 1969, brave individuals at the Stonewall Inn stood up against injustice and ignited a movement for equality and acceptance. Let us honor their courage and continue to advocate for a world where everyone can live freely and authentically.
ReUnite Families offers a comprehensive family therapy program, providing support to all members during the reunification process. Urban Restoration Counseling Center is dedicated to helping families heal intergenerational traumas.

Every 65 seconds, an American falls victim to sexual assault, a statistic that cannot be ignored. It is imperative that we come together to raise awareness and take action to eradicate this heinous crime. Let us stand in solidarity with survivors, advocate for change, and work towards a society where every individual is respected and safe.
In the aftermath of the recent San Diego Flood, healing together is paramount. Urban Restoration Counseling Center has created a healing spaces for victims of the San Diego Flood at the Comfort Inn. Each Thursday from 1-3pm we will be offering weekly group support sessions. During Sexual Assault Awareness Month, let's confront a significant reality: 21% of TGQN (transgender, genderqueer, nonconforming) college students have faced sexual assault. This surpasses the 18% for non-TGQN females and a staggering 4% for non-TGQN males. These statistics underscore the pressing need for awareness, support, and action to foster safer environments for all.
At URCC, our professional therapists provide a safe and supportive space for conversations. Please don't hesitate to reach out to us. Let's unite to shift these statistics and cultivate a culture of empathy and respect.
