In the latest White Horse Inn series on the Beatitudes, we learn not to look at how things appear to us. People may look righteous, happy, and healthy on the outside, but it doesn’t mean they are “blessed.” Like the Pharisees, they “outwardly appear beautiful, but within are full of dead men’s bones.”

"Eschatologically, things have changed. We're now living in the dawning of the new creation. We really are new creatures in Christ."

Do we misunderstand the Beatitudes? In our new series "Citizens of the Kingdom: The Beatitudes," we're tackling various misconceptions surrounding some of the most famous lines of Jesus' Sermon on the Mount.
🆕 New Series - Citizens of the Kingdom: The Beatitudes 🆕 Through the gospel, people are brought into subjection to the King, where they are nurtured as kingdom citizens and heirs by the means of grace. But what does this look like? If we are heirs to God’s kingdom, why are we still persecuted by our enemies? Why do we still suffer in this world? In this series from White Horse Inn, we will explore the Beatitudes in Jesus’s Sermon on the Mount, discovering how we are “blessed” despite our weaknesses and tear-stained faces.
Is our culture becoming more atheistic or just more superstitious? In this interview about his new book, Michael Horton shows how seemingly recent trends such as "spiritual but not religious" have actually been present throughout much of human history.

Autonomy isn't just a modern issue. Martin Luther famously identified Adam as the first "enthusiast"—believing his own "inner light" over God's external word. On our most recent episode, Michael Horton discusses how our pull inward, towards the self, conflicts with the grace we receive outside of ourselves.

*EXCITING NEW EPISODE* Caleb Wait interviews Michael Horton on his new book, “Shaman and Sage: The Roots of “Spiritual but Not Religious” in Antiquity. Listen in as Horton shows how ancient shamanist practices have shaped Western philosophy and even modern science, revealing to us that modern practices and beliefs are far more ancient, and superstitious, than we think. "How firm a foundation." As Bob Hiller discusses on this week's episode, this refers to Scripture's enduring role as the ultimate source of divine truth in our lives. It's all we really need.

Who we are
Our mission is to help Christians “know what they believe and why they believe it” through conversational theology. The conversations take place in talk show, magazine, event, book, blog and social media formats.
Where Did We Come From?
In the late 1980s, Michael Horton (host of White Horse Inn and editor in chief of Modern Reformation) began an organization called Christians United for Reformation (CURE). CURE’s purpose was to remind American evangelicals of their biblical roots and the rich faith and practice recovered during the Protestant Reformation that had been largely abandoned in the mad dash to relevance. CURE didn’t represent just one denomination, but tried to include as many different Reformation voices in the conversation as possible. More than a ministry of one man or congregation, CURE drew on the wisdom of many to identify and correct the problems that plagued evangelical and Reformational churches, alike. One of the first efforts to broaden their influence came in 1990 with the launch of the weekly radio broadcast, White Horse Inn, with hosts Michael Horton, Kim Riddlebarger, and Rod Rosenbladt. [For more on why we chose the name White Horse Inn, click here.] In 1992, the organization began publishing a magazine, Modern Reformation, to apply timeless Christian doctrines to the questions of the day.
