Our kindergarten classes created artwork inspired by Black artists, Alma Thomas and Clementine Hunter. Thomas was the first African American woman to have a solo exhibition at New York’s Whitney Museum of American art, and her works were displayed at the White House three times.

Art from Her Heart by Kathy Whitehead tells Hunter’s story. Like many folk artists, Hunter used what was available to her and was inspired by the color and joy of everyday life. Through Whitehead’s story, students learn that Hunter was not able to view her own works alongside art patrons due to segregation laws. She had to wait until after hours to see her work displayed in the Delgado Museum, now the New Orleans Museum of Art.

Today we launched the 2023/24 Glen Park Fund, the PTO's largest annual fundraiser. This campaign is the easiest way to support the teachers and enrichment programs that contribute to our extraordinary and diverse learning community.

Our theme this year is We Love Glen Park, and - over the next few months - we'll share personal stories from educators, students, and parents about what makes Glen Park School a joyful and well-rounded learning environment. To kick things off, we asked students to share directly with you what they love most about Glen Park. Be sure to check backpacks to see what your child had to say!

Donations to the Glen Park Fund help bridge the funding gap between what SFUSD provides and what is needed to fund many of the things we love most about our school - a full-time librarian, a learning garden, a fully-staffed wellness center, daily fresh snack, and more. No gift is too big or too small! Donations can be made at the link in our bio or by mail, sent directly to the school and and made out to Glen Park PTO.

Thank you for all that you do to support our school! (Continued in comments)
