Members of the community participated in a disaster preparedness workshop conducted by the San Francisco Fire Department (SFFD) this past weekend.

Many thanks to the SFFD for collaborating with us on this very useful initiative.

We look forward to working with them on more of such events in the future.

Any Singaporean residing overseas can apply to vote in Singapore Elections by post or at any one of the 10 overseas polling stations if he or she meets the following criteria:

✅ is a citizen of Singapore (holder of pink NRIC);
✅ is not less than 21 years of age:
✅ is not disqualified from being an elector under any prevailing law;
✅ a) has a Singapore residential address on his NRIC; or
b) is residing overseas and has changed his or her NRIC address to an overseas address, and has a contact address in Singapore registered with Immigration & Checkpoints Authority for voting purpose; and
✅ has resided in Singapore for at least 30 days within the 3-year period prior to the date of application to be registered as an overseas voter.

Singaporeans residing overseas can apply to vote in Singapore Elections either by post or at one of the 10 overseas polling stations, but not both.

Should you need to change your mode of voting from postal voting to in-person voting at one of the 10 overseas polling stations, or vice versa, you must do so by the 2nd day after Writ of Election is issued.

The Singapore Consulate-General in San Francisco will be an overseas polling station.

The US-ASEAN Business Council organised an event for its members to engage with the ASEAN Consuls-General in San Francisco. We appreciated the opportunity to meet up and had very good discussions. Many thanks to Salesforce for hosting the event.

Permanent Secretary (Defence) Mr Chan Heng Kee met the United States Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering Ms Heidi Shyu at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. today. During the meeting, Mr Chan and Ms Shyu affirmed the excellent bilateral defence relationship between Singapore and the US. They also discussed ways to further science and technology cooperation between both countries, which was underscored by the establishment of a new working group to boost research and development between Singapore and the US.

Mr Chan is in Washington D.C. from 2 to 6 Oct 2022 for the 12th Strategic Security Policy Dialogue (SSPD), which he will co-chair with Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Colin Kahl tomorrow. Mr Chan will also meet with various government officials and think tanks during his visit.
