SAN FRANCISCO, CA (8/7)- Hundreds of San Francisco Giants fans gathered for a Pizza Party with Bruce Bochy, which was billed by organizers as, "Join us for our pizza party benefitting the San Francisco Homeless Prenatal Program! We're teaming up with four-time World Series-winning Manager Bruce Bochy & his wife Kim to raise money for Bay Area families in need. Amici’s will donate 100% of sales from both San Francisco locations to the SF Homeless Prenatal Program.

Bruce and Kim will make special guest appearances at both Amici’s locations on August 7th and will be available for autographs and photos.

Amici's East Coast Pizzeria touted the event as, "Once again, three-time World Series-winning Manager Bruce Bochy and his wife Kim will team up with Amici's East Coast Pizzeria to raise money to help Bay Area families in need. Amici's will donate an incredible 100% of sales from both San Francisco restaurant locations to the Homeless Prenatal Program. Bruce and Kim will make special guest appearances at both Amici's locations on August 7th and will be available for autographs and photos.

The KNBR 680 Morning Show with Brian Murphy and Paul McCaffrey will broadcast LIVE from the King Street location from 6am -10am on that day and will host interviews with Bruce Bochy and HPP's Founder and Executive Director, Martha Ryan. The event was a charity event to help the Homeless Prenatal Program (HPP). In a message by Martha Ryan, Co-Founder and Former Director of the group told people, "In 1989, I wrote a grant to the San Francisco Foundation to fund a project that would address an unmet public health need – prenatal care for women who were pregnant and homeless. I called it the “Homeless Prenatal Program”. The San Francisco Foundation agreed to support the project and with a staff of three we served 72 women the first year. Twenty-five years later, our name remains, but, like the first children we helped care for, we have grown and matured. Our 80 staff members now serve 4,000 clients annually – a full six percent of all San Francisco families. We have evolved into a comprehensive Family Resource Center, providing a full-range of services for families ending poverty.

I attribute HPP’s growth and success to several groups of people.

First, I owe a debt of gratitude to our donors for sharing our vision of an end to childhood poverty. Without you, HPP would not exist. In the past year we have experienced record demand for services, and you have responded generously.

I am deeply grateful to our dynamic staff members who are passionate about ending childhood poverty; these remarkable men and women offer direction to the agency guided by their own life experiences. More than half of our staff comes from the population we serve; many of our case and program managers are former clients. While HPP has grown to serve thousands, our staff members welcome every family with dignity and compassion...."

When asked about the importance of events like the pizza party, Ryan noted, "It's important because it increases the visibility of the agency's work and brings attention the cause. It actually helps the agency to continue the work they need to do. The organization helps to provide those services that are critical to living for the community..."

Phil Truncer, a supporter from Seattle, Washington simply stated, "The group is helping the disadvantaged, those who need help!"

Val Freytag of Sunnyvale, California noted, "This is the fourth time I have come to this event. This is a wonderful charity. Bruce Bochy and his wife are doing a great service for the community..."

Ava Freytag of Sunnyvale added, "It's a great charity. Its a wonderful event, and it's always exciting and fun!"

Jim Thordsen of Menlo Park said, "It was very fun. I have been here since 9:00 AM this morning. It's a great cause. It's the second year for me coming here and doing this. It's been fun!"

Ida Kool of San Jose echoed those sentiments saying, "This is the second year I have attended this event. I am very proud to donate tot he Homeless Prenatal Program...." Pointing to her T-shirt of the Giants on California Avenue, "The first time I came here I had a T-shirt of the Giants on Lombard Street.This time I was lucky enough to have a T-shirt of the Giants on California Street..."

Elisa of Los Altos, I want to thank Bruce Bochy for everything he he has done. I also want to thank Bruce and his wife for his charity work! We're going to miss him!"

Melinda of Castro Valley added, "I'm happy to be here! Bruce Bochy is amazing! He's a Hall of Fame! Its always an honor to see him in person!"
