BRAVIUM
Derek Rohlffs is Bravium’s proprietor and winemaker. He produces vineyard-designated Pinot Noir and Chardonnay at his San Francisco winery. St. Helena, CA
With extremely limited production [24 to 672 cases per wine], Derek employs traditional winemaking techniques – gravity-moving his wine, for example – allowing the source fruit to remain at the forefront, vine to bottle. Bravium sources its fruit exclusively from its small, distinct vineyards and family farmers in California’s most unique appellations, including Napa, Sonoma Coast, Mendocino

2021 Russian River Valley Chardonnay
92 Points, Wine Enthusiast [$25]
“Caramel apple aromas and butterscotch flavors lend a rich, indulgent expression to this full-bodied and lush-textured wine. The price is great, too, for a Russian River wine of this quality. Editors’ Choice.” - Jim Gordon
This Chardonnay is grown at our estate Plumis Vineyard. Traditional winemaking - including wild yeast fermentation, full malolactic conversion, and aging in French and Hungarian oak barrels and puncheons - results in a balanced, delicious wine that seriously overdelivers.
I invite you to purchase this Chardonnay and all of my other Bravium wines with a very limited-time 15% discount. Plus, enjoy $15 flat rate shipping on 12+ bottles. Just enter Code WINTER when placing your order at One Stop Wine Shop.

Say hello to the newest member of our family, Indy. He’s going to love visiting vineyards with me, but for now he seems quite content just sitting on my lap as I learn a new way of typing over and around him. PS He’s an Alaskan Klee Kai, as inspired by my friend Jeff
The Makasi has arrived! So happy to receive Danny Sullivan’s wines and look forward to enjoying g them. “The name Makasi is derived from a colloquial Bahasa expression of gratitude, honoring Sri Sullivan. It represents the intent of [Danny] to produce personally meaningful wines meant to be generously shared and enjoyed amongst family and friends.”
Enjoyed fly fishing on the Sacramento River and its beautiful rainbow trout.
I am excited to release my 2021 Anderson Valley Pinot Noir and share all of my other Bravium wines with you in celebration of Thanksgiving!
Wine Spectator has rated previous bottlings of this wine 91 Points and today Wine Enthusiast awarded my 2021 Anderson Valley Pinot Noir 93 Points: “This beautiful expression of Pinot Noir from Anderson Valley emits immediate aromas of bright red cherry, raspberry and red plum complemented by earthy tones of roses, violets, damp forest floor, fresh mountain air and river-rock minerality. This depth and complexity follows through onto the palate, where fine-grained tannins create a silky texture. Elevated acidity maintains a sense of freshness from start to lingering finish. 93 Points, Editors’ Choice, Best of Year Issue” - Stacy Briscoe, Wine Enthusiast

Good Morning!
Bravium 2021 Russian River Valley Chardonnay
91 Points
“Fresh lemon zest and pineapples, with some praline notes from the fine, creamy oak toast. Fresh and flavorful with a zesty, medium-bodied palate before a long, creamy finish. Drink or hold.” – James Suckling
This Chardonnay is grown at our estate vineyard named Plumis, Latin for feather, as it is shaped like the Bravium feather icon. It brings together all the best elements of our coastal vineyards: cool-climate acidity and ripeness at relatively low alcohol levels. Traditional winemaking - including wild yeast fermentation, full malolactic conversion, and aging in French and Hungarian oak barrels - results in a balanced, delicious wine.
I invite you to purchase this and all other Bravium with a 20% DISCOUNT and FREE SHIPPING on $250+ orders, Code: FRIENDS. This special pricing is only available this week. Purchase link in bio.
Is it only me or do you also see Van Gogh in this Chardonnay juice pan?
The unsung heroes of Bravium are the amazing sales folks who get my wines in the best restaurants and boutique wine shops across the U.S. At the top of this list is the Fine Wine Team at United Distributors in GA. They started with Bravium just a few years ago and now are a very close second to CA in sales! So great seeing them in Napa and want to shine a light on them here.
Tree hugger from way back Brad Wiley with the Sequoia he planted 37 years ago. 6 feet wide and over 100 feet tall now. Both have stood the test of time.
Lovely welcoming party in Denver tonight.
My wife Ginger's favorite Bravium wine has always been the Wiley Vineyard Rosé. The 2021 is almost sold out and I invite you to pick up some of the few remaining bottles. Vinous just published a review of this cool-climate wine made exclusively from grapes that I grow in the Deep End of Anderson Valley:
Bravium 2021 Wiley Vineyard Rosé of Pinot Noir
90 Points
“Limpid orange-pink. Displays fresh, spice-tinged red berry and citrus fruit scents and a subtle touch of botanical herbs. Juicy and energetic on the palate, offering subtly sweet raspberry and cherry flavors and a bracing touch of spicy white pepper. Finishes long and focused, with the red fruit note repeating.” – Josh Raynolds, Vinous

Some light reading before we hit the vineyards this week.
And just like that we’re in Burgundy! Where the wine is as legit as it gets, the dogs are invited to dinner, and the knives are medieval meets Alcatraz.
The calm before the storm.
Enjoyed Chris Chen’s visit to Wiley Vineyard. Chris is the University of California Cooperative Extension Integrated Vineyard Systems Advisor for Sonoma, Lake, and Mendocino Counties. That’s a lot of ground to cover. And we discussed cover crop management and other fascinating topics.
Saint John got the Bravium memo.
Welcome to NYC! First thing I saw when I got out of the car.

Slo mo meditations on sunset, fireside.
putting in 40 hives at Wiley Vineyard this morning. Each can host up to 60,000 bees for a max occupancy of over 2 million happy insects!
Wiley Vineyard - the first vineyard planted in what is now known as the Deep End - is one of my favorite places in Anderson Valley. Located in the cool, Northwest corner of the valley, this historic vineyard expresses itself beautifully in my Wiley Vineyard Rosé, Blanc de Noirs, and Pinot Noir. I’ll be pouring all three of these wines at the Anderson Valley Pinot Noir Festival on May 21 and I can’t wait to share them with you! For more information and tickets, visit avwines.com

One of the many things I love about wine is how it brings people together. Last night my buddy Gary Crowder joined me at The Four Seasons in Palm Beach for our Bravium dinner. Cheers to good wine, great food, and friendship.
California winery Bravium to hold Thursday dinner at Florie's
by M.M. Cloutier Special to the Daily News
Florie’s, the flagship restaurant at the Four Seasons Palm Beach, is hosting a Thursday wine dinner with the founder-winemaker of California winery Bravium.
An intimate four-course dinner paired with Bravium wines has been planned by Florie’s chef de cuisine Nino La Spina and Bravium’s Derek Rohlffs.
With limited seating available, advance reservations are required. Link in bio. The event begins at 6:30 p.m.
The wine dinner will feature Bravium chardonnay and pinot noir, reflecting Rohlffs’ minimalist terroir-driven approach to growing grapes in his cool-climate vineyards in Sonoma’s Russian River Valley and Mendocino’s Anderson Valley.
Vintages that will be paired with the four-course dinner at Florie’s include, among others, Bravium Anderson Valley Chardonnay 2019 and Bravium Signal Ridge Vineyard, Mendocino Ridge Pinot Noir 2018.
After an amuse bouche, dinner begins with heirloom tomato-and-plum carpaccio with Sicilian pistachios, Marcona almonds, chive and ginger vinaigrette.
The second and third courses are black sea bass with smoked sauce, celery-root mousseline and sorrel, and Rohan duck with green-curry sauce and tapioca.
Tonka-bean chocolate fondant is planned for dessert, featuring raspberry sorbet, almond Manjari chocolate streusel and berries.
The dinner at Florie’s is $195 a person (plus tax and gratuity).
Florie’s restaurant is a partnership between the Four Seasons and internationally known chef-restaurateur Mauro Colagreco.
For more information or to make required advance reservations, call 561-582-2800 or visit www.floriespb.com or www.fourseasons.com/palmbeach.

The two 15 hectoliter Kadar Hungary oak tanks served us well and the lees are all that’s left of the 2021 Russian River Valley Chardonnay that fermented and aged in them. Thanks
Feeling and seeing green today. Time to prune the vineyard.
How ‘bout them apples.
