Hayes Valley's beloved Arlequin Cafe has closed 04/09/2019

This is sad news. Many of you joined us for meals or coffee at this location. I am truly saddened to see it go. Its becoming typical in SF 2.0. https://www.sfchronicle.com/wine/article/Hayes-Valley-s-beloved-Arlequin-Cafe-has-closed-13750878.php?fbclid=IwAR1FX6cdWFMw2WXlo9Be-sW2Sv_vXig4txP2cxQDpEKgu-eoiGt83Szm2i4 -17193878

Hayes Valley's beloved Arlequin Cafe has closed The rising cost of living in San Francisco drove the decision, the owner said: The Arlequin Cafe model “no longer allows us to pay people what they need and deserve.”

Lose Yourself In No Spectators: The Art of Burning Man 04/01/2018

If you ever had Allen as your guide this exhibit includes some of his work. He is not mentioned in the article but I’m hoping to show pics of his work here shortly. I think it’s awesome to be associated with someone as talented as Allen.

If you saw any of the wooden “temples” around SF you will recognize the center piece. We saw this work at different times at Patricia’s Green in Hayes Valley and at the Art Institute.

Wishing all of you the best. I miss being out touring the city. I have finally had the much needed surgery on my ankle and I am in the first weeks of healing.

It is with a heavy heart that I announce, my company, The Real SF Tour, is closing. We have a few dates through the end of October that are already booked and then we will close the doors.
I want to thank everyone who chose to spend the day with us during their visit to San Francisco. It's possible that we took as many as 15,000 people on 80,000 transit rides. At some point I will check the numbers. We amassed close to 1000 five star reviews on travel and social media sites. We also appeared in news articles around the world.
The closure is based on a number of factors: First is a very slow season. Travel appears to be way down. Then my illness, coupled with an injury that I can't have surgically repaired until February, that will require at least six months recovery. Lastly, the Viator and Trip Advisor partnership have totally buried us. It's all big money, big bus, big tech now.
I can't thank all the people who worked with us, promoted us, and took our tours enough. It was truly a labor of love and I hope you had a 5 star experience. I will miss tour guiding, but I will also miss seeing the group photos from various locations, with amazing, happy, travelers, here on Facebook every day.
We do go out on high note we are still one of the top 10 highest rated tours in SF. I wish all of you all of the best on your travels.
Chris
