Staying cool this summer @ Le Colonial. Our sticky rice golden kiwi “Sushi” is a fun twist of street xôi sold in carts that roam the hot streets of Saigon. These are all natural colors from leaves, fruits and plants.
Congratulations to Allen and Muguet 💐💐💐
Our new dish on the summer menu would be recognized by anyone who has traveled through central Vietnam. Bánh Bèo is a popular dish consisting of mined shrimp and pork simmered in a rich prawn sauce thickened with tapioca. Poured over little chewy rice cakes it’s like eating an oyster yet has all the flavors of the best in Vietnamese cuisine. A must try!
'Makes me so happy': SF family meal held for unhoused moms battling back "It means so much because spending time with my mom is the best thing in the world," one daughter said.
Thank you Compass again for bringing us all together here at Le Colonial. We can celebrate not only our mothers but the comunity in which we all live and work. Everyone comes from a mom and it’s up to us as compassionate human beings to put aside a moment in our lives to give back and remember why we are all here in the first place.
The Le Colonial family wishes all the moms a safe and happy year 🌸🌸🌸
‘It Means the World to Me': Unhoused Mothers Recognized in San Francisco In San Francisco, a Mother’s Day celebration filled with picture booths, handmade cards and lunch was put on by Le Colonial and community partners for moms that are part of Compass Family Services. You won’t see our Hoi An beef salad on many menus here in America. This is well known among the locals but even not offered in near by cities. with crushed tomatoes and sliced beef its flavored with a tamarind fish sauce to give it its unique sweet and sour taste.
Bánh khọt are similar to the Vietnamese rice cakes called bánh xèo but are smaller and balanced with more proteins and a crispier base. Rolled and devoured much like their big brother! they give you a similar pleasure in texture and taste. Ours features prawns and ground pork for a classic take on a popular dish most often sold in the beach town of Vũng Tàu.
Fresh crab noodles sautéed with sh*take mushrooms, garlic chives, sweet peppers and fried shallots. The sweet potato noodles are a great gluten free option as well.

In Viet Nam, sweet potatoes often served on the back of a bicycle and grilled over charcoal. It's a warm and savory treat that can also be topped with fried shallots and green onion oil.
Black and white photos are a reminder of times gone by. Our Taylor street sign glows with the same brilliant energy of these memories. Old San Francisco and old Saigon have parallels of an era long gone but held close to our hearts. Walk down an ally and take a trip to another place.
Our dear friend Susan just dropped of these organic Rangpur fruit from her farm in Mendocino. A cross from lime, mandarin and lemon or other citrus. Planning on a large batch of homemade marmalade to use on our spring menu.

Many dining rooms like ours still fill with locals and travelers in Vietnam today. Save a trip to Vietnam and come by for dinner with our new updated menu and eclectic staff.
Lamb chop curry is a decadent as it sounds. Vietnamese curries are smith aromatic and not spicy. More of an Indian curry than a Thai curry is the most common version in Vietnamese cooking.
There is a reason people love this timeless Vietnamese snack. For most of us this was the dish that started our love affair with Vietnamese food. Goi Cuon meaning salad roll. Poached prawns and often sliced poached pork belly are stuffed in rice paper with herbs and rice noodles.
Come and enjoy a romantic evening in our beautiful restaurant and dine on traditional &luxurious Vietnamese cuisine. Featuring live music from Dave Rocha Jazz band. Check our VDay menu through our website www.lecolonialsf.com ❤️❤️❤️
