Keep your smile sparkling for Santa with our December tooth brushing chart!
Wishing everyone a bright smile filled Hanukkah!
Don't feel guilt about delicious holiday treats, but if you're baking, add some ingredients that are great for your smile and body! Cinnamon is an antioxidant. Chia seeds provide omega fatty acids. Apples and bananas are full of vitamins and minerals, and oatmeal has fiber and protein.
Cranberries are a fall food that makes us smile! They're a great source of vitamins and antioxidants, especially Vitamin C.
Happy Halloween! Don't forget to brush tonight.
We love fruit and cheese as a snack combination! Calcium in the cheese and natural tooth whitening properties from the strawberries make this a great snack for your smile.
Today is Statistics Day and we have one we're excited to share: Did you know that introducing fluoride into drinking water has reduced tooth decay by 60% since WWII? Amazing! Be sure you're also using toothpaste and mouth wash that contains fluoride.
Did you know that 300,000 tons of candy is purchased for Halloween each year?! Consider some non-candy treats for your trick-or-treat visitors!
Crunchy, colorful vegetables dipped in guacamole are a great after school snack choice! Made even better when it makes a silly monster face.
Lunch packing tip: Cut sugar in half by adding sliced banana instead of jelly to your sandwiches!
How much fluoride toothpaste should your child be using to brush their teeth? From first tooth to age three, the size of a grain of rice. From ages three and up, the size of a pea.
Grab the backpacks! Grab your keys! Grab a slice of breakfast corn bread! This recipe is yummy and portable for those busy school mornings.
To make it, we mixed one cup of cornbread, one cup of sauteed riced cauliflower and bell peppers (use whichever vegetables your family likes! If that list is short, just use cauliflower. They'll never know it's in there), 1 tsp baking powder, 3 eggs, 1 cup of shredded cheese.
Bake at 325 for 15-20 minutes.
We know it can be tough on those school days, but be sure your children are spending two minutes on their teeth morning and night! This book is a cute reminder of why we spend this time on our smiles every day.
Today is Women's Equality Day! Shout out to all of the incredible women dentists out there keeping smiles healthy.
We love it when parents have dentist office related toys! It helps prepare children for their visits and you never know... it just might lead to a career in dentistry!
Fun facts: Your tongue is made of 8 different muscles! They are the only muscles in the human body that work independently of the skeletal system.
But you should definitely take your children twice a year. Happy Shark Week!
It’s almost time to get back in the classroom! With COVID-19 still spreading, mostly through the delta variant, the thought of going back to school can seem scary! Here is some feedback from health experts and tips to keep everyone as safe as possible. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends everyone mask while indoors, including children in the classroom. Masks have become a contentious issue, so put a smile on and have patience. Keeping a positive attitude in public and at home, in front of your children, makes a huge difference. Teachers are under even more pressure than normal, so if you can offer to help with spacing desks, ventilating, sanitizing, or just give a word of encouragement! Ask if extra supplies are needed.
Speak to your children about the importance of wearing their masks properly. Talk about social distancing in ways that children can understand. Explain that we are keeping distance from our friends because we care about them. Come up with fun playground games that can be played while socially distancing. Remind them to wash their hands frequently with soap and water. Make sure their hand sanitizer is stocked in their backpacks and in their desk.
When choosing extracurricular activities, consider the amount of distance required between your children and other participants. Maybe consider some activities that keep them at a distance from others, like tennis! When scheduling play dates, choose outdoor locations whenever possible. Ventilation is very important, so if you are indoors with pals, open some windows if you can.
Don’t forget to support your health and immunity by making healthy food choices, drinking plenty of water, Exercising with your family is not only fun, but gives everyone’s immune systems a boost.
There are a lot of pieces to a healthy smile... and when they come together, the result is beautiful!
These healthy pops have only three ingredients and are packed with potassium and vitamin B6. We sliced banana, layered them with chocolate chips, added almond milk, and froze!
Teeth Are Not For Biting,' is a swell book for toddlers who are, shall we say, expressing themselves with their bites! It is full of tips to help parents and children through teething.
These one ingredient (ONE!) popsicles make summer simple and sweet!
Watermelon has potassium and vitamin C and is full of hydration.
Just blend or crush with a fork and fill popsicle molds or ice cube trays!
