This is Melina Dunham, who is the Development Manager of Ecogencia, a non-profit organization that was founded in 2021 with the mission of mobilizing young people to accelerate localized climate action through civic service. From June 19-22, 19 current and incoming members of the Middle and High School faculty and administration attended the California Association of World Schools IB MYP training in Lake Tahoe. While learning about IB philosophy and disciplinary expectations, the participants practiced key aspects of the IB Learner Profile including inquiry, communication, and risk-taking. The beautiful surroundings and many opportunities to connect with colleagues from our school and beyond enriched the experience and inspired participants as they prepare to bring this exciting program to our school.

Yesterday our Grade 10 and 11 students went to the Asian Art Museum to check out the Phoenix Kingdoms exhibit!
Yesterday students had the opportunity to dissect a real brain. This incredible lab gave them the opportunity to dive into some amazing hands-on learning!
After finishing in first place last week in both the 100 and 200-meter dash at the NCS Meet of Champions, senior Nairobi Smith will be competing in the CIF State Championship Track Meet! Join us in wishing her luck on this big day!
Tuesday was our Spring Concert at SFJAZZ. What an incredible night and a fantastic showcase of our students’ talents! We are extremely proud of our student musicians, who awed us with their performances – from classical to jazz to rock and pop.
Special thanks to our Musical Director, Ken Berman, for his guidance and instruction. And a big shoutout to our Stu-Fac Choir/Band and Parent Choir! What an amazing way to cap off this year’s events.
Yesterday our high school students held their student election speeches for the different roles in the Student Body Government. Today is voting day so everyone is taking what they heard from yesterday and voting for those they wish to represent our student body!
On Saturday night, we held our High School’s Annual Athletics Awards Night! This special night honors our student athletes, coaches, and athletic department’s hard work and dedication to athletics. Congratulations to all our Jaguars on an incredible season!

Last week, three of our Mandarin language teachers – Michelle Wong, Esther Han, and Lucy Junjing Yang – participated in the National Chinese Language Conference. The following day, our school proudly served as one of the host sites for the conference's open classes. We are so thankful to have played a part in this conference and to bring this wonderful learning experience to our students.

Our Design Tech classes couple the Sciences and the Arts, using methods and principles from each in the design process. In these cross-disciplinary courses, our students are forced to think across disciplines to become better innovators and designers.
Last week, our junior and senior Design Tech students went on a field trip to Public Glass, where they learned about the art of glass blowing and even created their own cups and vases to take home with them. This field trip was an amazing way to continue to learn about sustainable creation and innovative thinking.

This week, we are exploring the theme of hospitality and are engaging in activities that cultivate curiosity, exchange, friendship, and generosity.
Earlier this week, visiting artist Ange Aoussou led our students in a movement workshop around this theme, specifically on holding space for themselves and each other.
