Last year marked our 40th year in the same location in the Castro. In 1977, a bar at the corner of 18th and Hartford formerly known as The Corner Store officially became The Moby Dick Bar.it has been 40 years, the bar adapted to the many changes in the times and in the community, but one thing has remained consistent. Moby Dick remains the consummate neighborhood bar, with friendly faces, affordable drinks, and enjoyable entertainment.

The world is in mourning for gentoo penguin Sphen of Sydney Sea Life Aquarium, who was famous for his same-sex relationship with another male penguin, Magic.
Sphen passed away aged 11, and was a father to two chicks, Sphengic, six, and Clancy, four.
To help him understand his partner had died, and start the grieving process, keepers carefully presented Sphen’s body to Magic. The widower began to sing, which was reciprocated by the rest of the colony.
Rest in power, little Sphen, the world will remember you.
