We have been broadcasting live, local news since 1968. Our history extends further back to the earliest days of radio. Our history goes back to Charles Herrold who opened he Herrold College of Engineering and Wireless in San Jose in 1909 and is credited with starting the first regularly scheduled broadcasts in the United States. He eventually got the call letters KQW, which changed to KCBS in 1949 when CBS bought the company.
