Closing early yet again due to selling out of ramen! Sorry! I suppose this is what happens when it's UC Davis' Parents Weekend and 10,000+ people descend upon this small town.

We are also critical on noodle stock for tomorrow's business, so we're strategizing now. We most likely will sell out of ramen again early tomorrow evening. I will keep you posted!

Daylight Savings Time ended, so we get another hour of work preparing for tomorrow/later today. Whee....

But seriously, the after-action reports show that we served over 350 guests today, which is an amazing accomplishment for a small mom-and-pop restaurant like hours. Shoutout to all of our hardworking front-of-house and back-of-house staff who worked tirelessly (literally) throughout today to achieve this record-breaking success.

Wow, what a crazy day! We sold out of ramen at 8:45pm tonight (over 190x orders!) but we're going to remain open as we've been doubling-down on all the subseqent rice entrees.

We will definitely be producing more ramen tomorrow, but if the flow of business continues in the same vein, then we will most likely sell out of ramen again. So here's the takeaway: if you want ramen, get here early tomorrow!

It's Kushiyaki / Yakitori day! Same rules apply like the last time we did this:

- Lunch ends early at 3:00pm (last orders need to be in by 2:30pm, everyone out by 3:00pm) so that we can prepare the charcoal.
- Dinner service starts at 5:00pm when the doors open.
- Last orders for all grilled items need to be submitted to the kitchen by 10:00pm.
- Last orders for all other kitchen items need to be submitted the kitchen by 10:45pm.
- Doors close to the public by 11:00pm unless something crazy happens (like having 40x people in line around 10:30pm), in which case, we will make allowances for those folks who are already on the waitlist to receive service after those cut-offs.

I'm going home to get 2 hours of sleep before returning for lunch service. See y'all later!

Whew, what a lunch rush! The cooler weather definitely makes a difference.

UPDATE: After much deliberation (and a review of past sales history), Chef has decided to discontinue the Extreme Spicy Tan-Tan Ramen due to insufficient demand. He'll only bring it back if more than 100x people want it on a regular basis (like our other ramen).

We are low on the Double Spicy Tuna Donburi, so that's why it's blocked online. We have only a handful of orders remaining for on-premises dining or walk-in/call-in take-away/to-go ordering. We are also sold out of the NY Sirloin Steak donburi until next week..

-- and speaking of next week, next Friday is Kushiyaki / Yakitori night! So we're gearing up for that as well.

Shortly after the last post, we got slammed with the dinner rush and Chef decided to end his break early, so everything is available again... EXCEPT that we have now sold out of the Tuna Poke Donburi, and we are VERY close to selling out of the Kurobuta Roast Pork Katsu (either the meal set or the appetizer).

We have 1 hour left of service until Last Order at 9:45pm, so if you want it, come and get it soon!

BAD NEWS: a portion of our meat delivery was delayed (yet again), so both the Chicken Kara-Age Appetizer and the Chicken Kara-Age Curry Platter are unavailable today. We hope that the vendor follows through tomorrow.

GOOD NEWS: The "New York Sirloin Steak" Teriyaki Beef Donburi is back in stock. Also, our Summer Happy Hour discount continues through the end of OCT 2024! Whee!

NOTICE: because it has become increasingly difficult and time-consuming to manually source Brussels sprouts of a quality that is acceptable to our standards, both the Brussels Garlic Sautee appetize and the Brussels Vegetable Donburi have been permanently retired from online sales.

We will continue to manually shop for Brussels sprouts 3x time a week, but the quantity will be considerably limited on a day-to-day basis.

So, yes -- we have enough Brussels sprouts for today's on-premises services... until we run out.

GOOD NEWS: The following specials have returned: "NY Sirloin Steak"Teriyaki Beef Donburi, Piri-Kara Shogayaki (both the teishoku meal-set and the stand-alone donburi rice bowl), and both the Gyuuniku Beef Udon and the Gyuuniku Beef Donburi -- please note that the Gyuuniku Beef Udon/Donburi are only available once or twice a week, usually WED/THU.

This is in regards to our hours for Monday, September 23, 2024 (tomorrow night). We will be closing early at 8:30pm tomorrow night (the final deadline for all orders is 8:00pm) due to planned PG&E maintenance work of gas/electrical services.

Again, all customers must vacate the premises by 8:30pm so that we can finish closing the restaurant before the power/gas shut-off. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Last night's Kushiyaki / Yakitori dinner event was, well -- we're still catching our breath. How quickly can 300 skewers be sold? Let me count the way--, oh, we're sold out already? It's only 7:30pm Wow!
