We all see stories about people paying off their mortgage in a short amount of time, and every time we ask “but how!?” scream
With 38% of U.S. households living mortgage-free, it’s more common and in reach thank you think, especially if you set yourself up for success. Here are a few ways you can pay down your mortgage:
moneybag Make biweekly payments instead of once a month. This will help you pay off an extra month worth of payments each year!
moneybag Make extra principal payments whenever you can. We know that interest is really what eats up your payments, by doing this you can reduce the overall amount!
moneybag Consider opting for a shorter loan term. While this may mean you have a higher monthly payment, you’ll pay off your loan a lot faster than you would with a 30 year loan.

Looking to make your backyard space the envy of the neighborhood? Here are some tips to get you started:
💚 Add some greenery: A little bit of greenery goes a long way in making your backyard look beautiful. And no, I’m not just talking about having nice grass.
💚 Create a focal point: A well-placed focal point can give your backyard a more cohesive look. Consider adding a water feature, a fire pit, or a pergola to create a gathering space that draws the eye.
💚 Add lighting: Outdoor lighting can create a warm and inviting atmosphere, even after the sun goes down. Consider adding string lights, lanterns, or even tiki torches to your backyard space.
💚 Choose comfortable seating: Make your backyard a space that people actually want to spend time in by investing in COMFORTABLE seating, not just seating that looks nice.
💚 Keep it clean and tidy: Finally, make sure to keep your backyard space clean and tidy. Regularly sweep, rake, and trim any overgrown plants to keep your space looking neat and inviting.
Tell me, how much do you love your backyard?
You see them everywhere, don’t you? The constant media headlines about the “real estate market.” Friend, I’m calling BS on all of them. Here’s why…
1️⃣ Those headlines are written to get clicks, not to give you the full story.
2️⃣ That information often is written in a way to push a specific narrative. It’s not the full story of what’s going on in the wild world of real estate.
3️⃣ Those headlines & stories are not hyper-local to you.
The truth is, real estate markets vary significantly from one area, one city, to another.
If you’re a homeowner or looking to buy, you need to understand the current LOCAL market – and you’re going to get that information from a local agent like me, not a media outlet writer who has never even stepped foot in your neighborhood. When you move, it’s not just stressful for you. It’s also stressful for your pet.
And sure, your dog could “act” normal as you pack but in reality, they’re probably just trying to hide their stress from you.
I mean, imagine if everything you knew was suddenly being put in brown boxes and you had no idea why.
You’d be pretty freaked out too!
So here’s a couple ways to keep your dog happy & safe during your transition.
🐶 Stick to your routine as much as possible.
A lot is already changing for your dog. Dogs thrive on routine, so try to let that be something that stays the same, even as their environment changes.
🐶 Prepare a doggy survival kit. The last thing you want to be doing is hunting around for where you put the dog food or your dog’s favorite toy or blanket.
🐶 Keep your pup away from the action. Don’t risk your dog escaping on Moving Days when doors are constantly opening and closing. Even if your dog isn’t a “runner,” today is the day to let him go to doggy daycare.
🐶 Update your pet’s microchip and other information.
Your dog doesn’t know the lay of the land around your new home & neighborhood. If he gets out, he won’t know how to find his way home. Make sure your dog’s collar tags and microchip are updated ASAP.
Truth be told, you probably can’t fully eliminate your dog’s stress during this time of transition.
However, you certainly can make it easier for them.
Word on the street is you’re looking to sell your house in the next few months. You’ve got a lil’ bit of time, but you need to get your home ready first!
Here’s where to start…
🏠 Clean and declutter – less is more when it comes to selling your home.
🏠 Freshen up with a coat of paint – choose a neutral color to appeal to a wide range of buyers.
🏠 Fix any obvious repairs – take care of those squeaky doors and leaky faucets.
🏠 Stage your home – make sure each room is well-lit and has a clear purpose.
🏠 Spruce up the landscaping – clean up the yard and add some colorful flowers.
🏠 Tackle the curb appeal – pressure wash the driveway and make sure the front door is inviting.
🏠 Hire a professional photographer – great photos can make all the difference when it comes to attracting buyers.
🏠 Price it right – work with a real estate agent to determine a fair market value for your home.
🏠 Be prepared to negotiate – be flexible and be ready to make compromises.
🏠 Be patient – selling a home takes time and effort, but it’ll all be worth it in the end!
The market is hot! Let’s make this spring your best home-selling season yet!

Is It Worth Investing In Repairs Before Your Sell Your Home? Owning a home of your very own may be an exciting thought, but forking over money to fix broken things, maybe not so much — particularly in this economy. You’ve made the decision! 2023 is the year you buy a new home….and you need to figure out your budget.
Here’s the costs you need to be paying attention to…
💰 Home inspection.
Yes, as the buyer, you will cover the cost of the home inspection.
💰 Down payment.
Yes, you’ll have a monthly mortgage to pay, but chances are, you’ll have to make some form of down payment.
💰 Homeowners insurance.
This is often required by your mortgage lender.
💰 Closing costs.
Sneaky lil’ closing costs can catch you by surprise. Expect to pay 3-6% of your mortgage amount in closing costs.
💰 Moving expenses.
Boxes, tape, movers, moving trucks… they add up pretty quickly.
💰 Emergency fund.
Hope for the best, and expect the worst. If something goes wrong in your new home, you’ll want to be able to cover the cost.
Need to strategize buying a new home? I’m all ears!
You know selling your home is going to be one of the biggest financial transactions of your life. You can’t afford to mess this up.
Here are the top 5 mistakes to watch out for when selling your home:
1️⃣ Pricing too high
Many homeowners fall into the trap of pricing their home above market value, which can turn away potential buyers and drag out the selling process.
2️⃣ Skimping on curb appeal
It may be winter, but first impressions are everything when it comes to selling a home. Make sure your home’s exterior is well-maintained and visually appealing.
3️⃣ Neglecting repairs and upgrades
Buyers want to move into their new house ASAP. Addressing any necessary repairs NOW will help you save time & money in the long run.
4️⃣ Getting too emotionally attached
Detach yourself from your home and try to view it as objectively as possible. It’ll help you make better decisions.
5️⃣ Not hiring a real estate agent
There’s a reason why houses listed with a (good) real estate agent sell for more money than homes that are “For Sale By Owner.”

You’re looking to buy a new house as your current one just won’t do for much longer. The first step is to call me but the second one is to get pre-approved for a mortgage.
Now just like there’s lots of houses to choose from, you often have multiple mortgage options.
Talk to a few different lenders and ask them a couple questions…
💰 Which type of mortgage is best for me?
💰 How much of a loan do I qualify for?
💰 How much down payment will I need based on each loan option?
💰 What is my interest rate and APR?
💰 What other closing costs will I pay?
💰 What are all of your lender fees?
Now you’ll be asked a lot of questions too. Be prepared to share ALL of your finances.
But don’t worry, a good lender is going to be on your side, fighting to get you the best possible mortgage.
If there’s ever a time when you don’t understand what a lender is saying, stop and ask them to explain further. Getting a mortgage is a BIG financial commitment, and you deserve to understand every step of the process.

Good news! You’ve made the decision to buy a house next year. Now what?
Let’s make this simple.
💳 Focus on getting your credit score as high as possible. This will help you get the best options for loan programs, interest rates, etc. Pay all your bills, and if your credit card bill is going to be big because of Christmas, pay it off every week to keep you DTI low.
🗺 Choose a location. You tend to travel the same routes and go to the same stores every week or month. Get out a little and explore your city to find lesser-known areas and neighborhoods that you may fall in love with.
🤝 Start talking to potential agents. You want to find the right one who understands you and your needs… and who is also experienced & knowledgeable about the local real estate market. You can also just skip this part and call me. 😉
💸 Begin interviewing lenders & looking at different loan options. Don’t just pick the first lender you talk to. Shop around and see what’s available to you.
💲 Ensure your finances are in order. You should have enough money set aside for a down payment, closing costs, and an emergency fund. (And yes, this is a reminder to not blow too much money on Christmas!)
