Local Kale and Cabbage Salad 🥗

Did you know that for the month of March we served locally grown vegetables as part of our Farm to School program. Highschool students had the opportunity to try our local kale and cabbage salad, topped with Craisins (Dried cranberries) and low fat dressing.

The kale and cabbage where grown in the RGV by local farmers and processed fresh at our cafeteria. Thank you CNP staff for helping provide fresh produce and creating amazing salad art in the process.

Local produce served in March included: celery, green & red cabbage, tomatoes, and kale.

Farm to School Kale Smoothie 🥤

Students at Jesus "Jesse" Vela, Jr. Middle School (formerly Alamo Middle School) harvested Kale from the Outdoor Learning Space's garden and made smoothies.

With just 4 ingredients (Kale🌿, Pineapple juice🍍, Greek Yogurt, Ice🧊) students where able to taste for the first time Kale in a fun and refreshing way.
