Johnston and local filmmaker, David Weisman.
LIVE ONLINE events are included each week, including a MLK Day Movie and Discussion (with our friends from Congregation Beth David), an interactive children’s activity with Leah Matthys Kates exploring Jews around the world, and a Closing a night presentation led by Micah Hyman explaining the history of the mezuzah.

Hello Film Lovers of San Luis Obispo and the World,
Our Global Mishpacha is about celebrating our family and friends around the world who understand what it means to be Jewish in whatever environment, era, or circumstances they live. While our festival has always celebrated cultural diversity, this year, in a world fractured by politics, race and religion, we wanted to remind ourselves that we are indeed, one united family around the world. This year's larger selection of films has been curated from more countries than ever before, and many reveal unique, unknown stories that are certain to surprise and delight you.
We hope you will share the festival with your friends and family around the country, letting them know, that from January 9–30, 2022, they, too, can be a part of our San Luis Obispo community by sharing in the festival programming.
We want to thank our sponsors who are the foundation of making the festival possible. Your generosity and commitment are inspiring. We thank the filmmakers who have dared to make such remarkable movies. We know how hard it is to make a movie and your independent voices are heard. Finally, we thank the volunteers who have shared their time and talent to make this festival possible.
Being virtual has enabled us to expand the festival to meet more filmmakers, and share this gem from the JCC-Federation of San Luis Obispo with more people in more places. That's the great thing. So pop a bowl of popcorn, settle into your favorite spot, and join our festival spirit that connects us, even virtually.
—Muara C. Johnston & Bruce Silverberg, Co-Directors
