We are celebrating our 30th year of teaching music with the best approach for both children & adults.
European School of Music has unique teaching methods, which follow the fundamental principles of classical pedagogy, and the priceless heritage of world-renowned composers and music performers. The goals of European School of Music are to teach students how to love playing music instruments, feel the music and truly appreciate it, as well as significantly develop intellectual capabilities, through
30 years ago I had the grand opening concert of European School of Music that I started with my mother. Misty joined us 3 years later. On Sunday, we had a celebration concert with students from 6 years old and up along with teacher performances. There were a lot of nature inspired music compositions and children received nature prints for their great performances and hard work with such a short notice after summer break. Especially thanks to Misty, our piano teacher with hidden talents! She and her husband Mike and 3 great musician friends played a beautiful bluegrass medley. Misty performed on bass and enlightened the whole concert. The children were captivated, along with their parents, giving them huge applause afterwards. Here is a short clip of a piece they played.
Join us on Sunday, August 27th for classical and modern pieces inspired by nature, and even a little bluegrass!

Today is Giving Tuesday and we appreciate any help for our students from needy families to be able to take music lessons.
One of them, from a single mother family with 3 kids, and the other family with 5 kids. Maybe you know a business or someone who can give a donation on this Giving Tuesday, to help cover the cost of their lessons? It is fully deductable as it is goes into a scholarship fund in our non-profit, European School of Music. The fund is used up supporting several other needy families. Thank you. https://www.gofundme.com/f/scholarships-for-needy-childrens-music-lessons

Want to share a video we just made dedicated to the people in Ukraine. It has the music of the Ukrainian composer Berkovich, performed as an encore at my student Josh's piano solo concert years ago. Thanks to Vedant, a current 14 year old piano and voice student of Carlos and Juliana, who produced the video. He used photos of Zhitomyr, Ukraine where I grew up. A lot of music and history in this town where the legendary pianist Richter was born. My first piano teacher knew his family closly and used to talk about him all the time. She was teaching me using the piano techniques that Richter was taught in his childhood. Zhitomyr was established in 884 and is 67 miles from Kyiv. It has a meaningful name: Zhito means wheat, myr means peace. We all hope peace will soon come back to this land that has suffered so much over the centuries! Please share with others... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pOGWkCGiC0E

Our thoughts are with the Ukranian people... I was born there and I know how hard life is there, and especially how horrible it must be now with hearing explosions and trying to evacuate your family. The second piece in this video is written by a Ukranian composer, Zhdanov. (Not the first as is titled in the video.) The way my student Megumi Araseki plays it describes the sufferings and the battles of Ukranian people over the centuries. But we hope good life will be there one day - that they deserve to have! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0QIqz_KMLU

👋 Hi everyone! I wanted to share this video of our student. Her name is Mona, she is just 5, and this was her first recital. I was impressed to hear that she plays with a deep tone and musicality (using ESM's relaxation approach) at such a young age.
This video is taken from our school's YouTube channel. Enjoy! 🙂

5 y.o. Plays with Deep Tone and Musicality using ESM Approach of Relaxation of Body and Arms
This is a picture of our younger students’ recital last month.
The youngest of them was not even 5 yet. But because her sister was playing, was an example, she was inspired and attended recitals when she was a toddler. It is amazing how well she performed, at her age. Everyone did great at this recital. With the European technique they learn at our school, they are able to produce a deep piano tone better than many adults!!!
Hi! Wanted to share this video from or latest student recital a few weeks ago. Teacher - Jordan, student - William. It was William’s first performance in his life and he did a good job! Enjoy the holiday music!
This was very inspiring - seeing teachers perform at a children's recital, setting an example for students to grow their skills. The performance definitely carries across the holiday spirit! Our excellent teachers: Alexandra on piano, Carlos on guitar, and Nick on pan flute.
Scholarship Fund For Needy Students - Go Fund Me
Currently at European School of Music we have children from a number of families who either are not able to continue with their music lessons, or have not been able to start giving their children lessons because of their financial situations. For example...
A family came to us this fall who are recent immigrants from Mexico, (the father is working as a baker. Mother has no job.) The mother used her own savings to pay for lessons for two months for her two children. One plays the violin and is very talented. The younger sibling is learning to play the piano. But now the savings are running out, and they cannot afford to pay for their lessons.
Another family with five children, African American, just moved here from Pennsylvania. In September the mother enrolled her eldest daughter who has a big desire to learn, without even having a piano at home. But her parents are having a hard time paying for lessons. A brother, watching his sister learning to play the piano, also took one lesson and liked it a lot, but they could not afford to give him lessons. In addition this family has three young children. The mother wanted to enroll them in the Mommy and Me music class, but could not do so this fall. When a new session starts early in 2022, they could participate if we can raise the funds for them.
There are several other parents I spoke with early this year who couldn't afford to give their children music lessons. If we can generate enough money, I will contact them back, and give them the opportunity to receive the gift of music and develop learning skills that could help them succeed in academics too. Everyone deserves to have this gift, regardless of their finances or family background.
The funds we receive will be applied completely to the tuition for these needy students. And any others that could not take lessons otherwise if the funds are available. All donations are tax deductible. Any amount will be welcomed. We will be very grateful for your donation at the Go Fund Me page that we just set up for this: https://gofund.me/0ec72f86 Please share with other people and the company you work at.
European School of Music (The Conservatoire, Inc.) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit education organization I established in 1993. I arrived in 1991 from Ukraine having no money but having 20 years of music training with a degree in piano performance and pedagogy equal to a US PhD. We have had a number of students who graduated from ESM and became professional musicians. (A concert pianist, college music professor, Hollywood composer, opera singer, orchestra conductor and organist, to name a few.) Others developed a love for playing music even after becoming MD's, lawyers and business professionals. They say that the lessons at European School of Music not only developed quality music skills to play or sing beautifully, but also helped them to better succeed in their careers and are still grateful to ESM.
Our teachers are very dedicated and compassionate, and are highly trained music instructors and performers. Most have been at ESM for a long time, some for over 25 years. They appreciate the opportunity to give back what they received from their extensive music and pedagogical training. We feel we are one big music family, and treat every student as being part of that family. We want to help more children become part of our music family - with your help.
Many many thanks for your donations and support!

We have a lot of younger students this year that are doing really well. It is true that sometimes 4 year olds do better than older kids. It depends on each child's ability and desire to learn music. I believe that parents need to take into consideration doing music lessons early because that way they will continue liking learning. Not only music, but other things too. Otherwise they get into too many things when they get older and don't want even to try music lessons and miss out on the chance to do something that will be beneficial throughout their lives. We are thanking all parents who are giving the opportunity to their kids to study at European School of Music.
Our violin 🎻 teacher, with many years of teaching experience, has OPENINGS now on Saturday because enrollment is not completed yet. She uses the European approach, based on relaxation of the body and arms, which allows students to achieve a beautiful tone. She helps develop student ability to its fullest potential.

Just want to share, I started European School of Music in Buckhead exactly 28 years ago when I was 28 years old. On August 28th, 1993 we had a big Grand Opening concert in a small house on East Shadowlawn where it started. I was told I'm crazy to start a music school without any money, any references, and not knowing anyone, (I worked at TJ Max in the back for $4.50 per hour). I was told by everyone it would fail because music in not important in the US and it was a recessiion. I proved otherwise. The gratitude and success of hundreds of students over the years has been my best reward, and kept me going even though it was very hard. I don't even know now how I managed to do it! I am very grateful to our music teachers for their dedication. Some of them have been with me for over 25 years, Misty and Robin. And a new generation of exceptional teachers who continue teaching in the tradition of European music school that I founded in Atlanta.
It was only 2 years and 2 days before that I came to the US arriving on my 26th birthday on August 26th. (30 years ago with nothing but my 18 years training as a concert pianist.) Now European School of Music is in a much better building with a beautiful recital hall where students have an opportunity to perform with their teachers. We have 2 baby grand pianos on the stage donated by 2 adult students, Eric Vassian and June McNaughten (we are a non-profit). Hard to believe! The time goes by fast...
➡️ Lessons in Pan Flute, Recorder, and Voice with a master-teacher, Nick Tacu. Openings on Thursday and Saturday. ENROLL NOW❗️
⬇️ Below is feedback from the mother of one of our voice students who is continuing lessons with our new voice teacher, Nick, who focuses on relaxation technique and a strong foundation of breathing techniques that follows the Italian vocal school. It is VITAL to have this foundation, not only for classical music, but for popular music and music theater. It tremendously helps to expand vocal range, and prevents harm to vocal cords that could occur otherwise.
❝We took lessons from Nick and Vedant really loved him. We liked the way he teaches too. That is what I was looking for. The basics 😊!! Vedant wants to learn from Nick and he was very very impressed.❞ (- the student's mother)
We are looking forward to another school year enriched by music, beginning next Monday, August 16th.
We also have a new program - "Mommy & Me", which you can read about in more detail on the flyer below.
Here is a video of our youngest student's first recital at European School of Music's own recital hall! Research has shown that starting private piano lessons from a young age - with the teaching methods we use at ESM that have an emphasis on thinking, imagination and quality of music tone - promotes development of important learning skills, executive functioning of the brain, creativity, and self-confidence. We've seen this over the past 28 years, and you can see it for yourself in our 5-year-old student's confident performance. She is performing for the first time in her life, and enjoyed her lessons so much that she didn't even want to take a summer break! We believe that any student is capable of achieving similar results and can develop their inborn abilities to the fullest potential with the correct teaching approach.
