Still shouting this from the rooftops, the back of the room, the front of the room and everywhere in between.
Substance use disorders are also the only disorders where we require the outcome before the work has been done to achieve it. All while we blame the client for failing treatment.

Keys to Calming Anxiety from Adverse Childhood Experiences Anxiety rooted in the hidden wounds from childhood need not be a lifelong sentence. A combination of effective strategies offer hope and help to alleviate anxious conditions, including excessive worry and panic attacks, that originate in childhood.
Don't forget! TODAY IS THE DAY!
February 10th UHRC will be participating in USARA's annual Rally for Recovery event held at the state capitol building and will be kicking it off with the Walk to Remember at 4PM. The walk is to honor and remember the lives lost to substance misuse and addiction, followed by the rally held inside the capitol to advocate for increased recovery services for all. Every one of us in this organization have been directly affected and have lost family and friends to substance misuse. We believe it is important for us to remember these people through the walk, and use our voice during the rally to discuss and bring awareness to this issue that has impacted so many. There will be several amazing speakers including our very own executive director Mindy Vincent who started the walk 7 years ago after losing her sister to an op**te overdose. We would love to see as many people in our community as possible there, so mask up and come walk with us!
IT"S OUR BIRTHDAY!!!!
Good morning everyone! Do you know what today is? Today is the 5th birthday of Utah Harm Reduction Coalition and syringe exchange in Utah! 5 years ago today, I headed out onto the block and started the first legal syringe exchange in the state. Since that day, many people and organizations have joined the harm reduction movement in Utah. At UHRC, we have seen many ups and downs, but WE MADE IT! Today, we are the largest provider of harm reduction services in the state with exchanges running in Salt Lake, Weber, Tooele, Washington and Iron counties. A little over 3 years ago, we finally were able to get an office where we opened the only harm reduction based treatment program in the state! We have and continue to fight for Overdose Prevention Sites and access to medical cannabis for those with previous substance use disorders and we continue to work to educate people about these life saving interventions. I am so proud of myself, my team, UDOH and all the people who have helped create this program and build this dream. We will continue to fight for the people we love and the rights of people who use drugs. Utah Harm Reduction Coalition will continue to thrive, grow and provide services for those we serve. And we will open the first OPS in the state. This is still just the beginning! So come celebrate with us at our syringe exchange today or come stop by the office and hang out with us! We will be having pizza and cupcakes and would love to see you. And a HUGE thank you to everyone who is a part of this program, who has been a part of this program and to those who will be in the future. Thank you to all of those who have supported me, UHRC and harm reduction in Utah. Together, we have accomplished a lot and it will just get better from here! Happy birthday Utah Harm Reduction Coalition and Syringe Exchange in Utah!!!
There's nothing wrong with being "California sober" — Demi Lovato's haters be darned As a recovery advocate, I know everyone's recovery journey is different — and it's okay to not be fully substance-abstinent

We are so proud of our policy director, Justin Arriola, talking about HB 210. We at Utah Harm Reduction Coalition believe that people have a right to have an alternative to dangerous pain medication and we also believe this bill NEEDS TO BE HEARD! This bill is currently being held up in rules committee, where we have been told IT WILL STAY. Meaning, the powers that be are NOT ALLOWING THIS BILL TO EVEN BE HEARD! If you believe this bill should at least be debated, please contact your legislators and tell them why YOU SUPPORT THIS BILL 😁 Together we really can change the world and SAVE LIVES!

"Sometimes I am surprised I survived it," she said. Caption: KUTV. Today, Anderson battles chronic pain. And like many in recovery, she knows it only takes one thing to trigger her addiction.
