When swapping out foods, remember these key points:
✔️Focus on using high-quality ingredients such as organic, non-GMO, grass-fed and finished
✔️Minimal ingredients - the less ingredients the better
🚫Things to avoid:
1. Vegetable oils (Canola, sunflower, safflower, corn, palm kernel oil) - the best types of oil are extra virgin olive oil, avocado oil and coconut oil)
2. Added sugars (high fructose corn syrup, sucrose, dextrose, fructose, molasses, maltose, glucose, lactose)

Here are some tips to help you maintain your blood sugar while also enjoying your favorite dishes this 4th of July:
🍒Snack first: Eat a snack as soon as you arrive to the barbecue. Snacking when you first arrive will help prevent you from over eating. Your snack should contain a protein and a carb or fat. Pair it with some fruit and wait at least 2 hours before eating your delicious meal.
🥙Bring dishes that align with your dietary needs. Make sure to bring fruit and vegetables that you enjoy eating.
🍽️ Prioritize protein and make sure to add some veggies and some fruit on the side which are generally high in fiber, which is beneficial for blood sugar management
💦 Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Adequate hydration helps supports optimal blood sugar regulation. Make sure you’re also taking in enough electrolytes (watermelon and citrus fruits are good sources of electrolytes)
