Meet Marco! 👋 Marco works part-time at the SLM library as a Library Public Service Assistant. He is also a student at SSC studying electrical engineering and plans to attend UCF in the Spring. Marco’s dream is to work in electronics and do animation for a big animation studio like MAPPA or Mad House.
Marco likes basketball and his favorite meal is Pollo Guisado with tostones. He also loves anime (especially bleach and its new season) and cosplay and is looking forward to cosplaying at megacon 2025. He loves chess and is the former chess club president.
Marco really loves the library family and loves to see the manga sections expansion.

Meet Maaha! 👋 Maaha works part-time at the SLM Library. She loves indo Chinese food and ramen. Her favorite books are The Power of Now, Untamed and the Harry Potter series. Maaha has a beautiful tuxedo cat named Bella Batul. She loves to go dancing with her friends and go on walks. Maaha will start a graduate program in Library Science at FSU this Fall. She says her favorite part of the job is “the little things” - the community she is a part of and seeing the regulars come in to the library. ❤️ Next time you are at SLM, stop in and see Maaha at the front desk! 😊

Meet Claire from the Library! 👋 Claire is a Faculty Librarian on the ALT campus. She’s an active crafter, embroiderer, and board game player, which she gets to share through Stitching Circle and Board Game Nights at the library. As expected from a librarian, Claire also reads a lot: The Murderbot Diaries and Fourth Wing were books she really enjoyed in the last year!
Claire attended New College of Florida for a BA in British and American Literature, and the University of South Florida for her Masters in Library and Information Science. Her favorite part of her job is helping students! Whether it’s with someone in the classroom or one-on-one, she’s loves sharing her joy and expertise to help folks learn new things. Claire says she loves the “light bulb” moment, when everything clicks for someone!

Meet Nicole (and her bf)! 😎 Nicole is a faculty librarian on the SLM campus and amazing host of Research Rally on YouTube, Wednesdays at 3 pm! 💙
Fun facts about Nicole - favorite food: Pasta, Pasta, and Pasta, favorite movie: Romeo and Juliet (1996), favorite board game: Guess Who and favorite book: The Bible. Nicole has a very lovable Shih-poo and likes ballroom. 💃🏻 She has a Masters in Library and Information Science (yes, it is an actual degree!) and she loves doing “detective” work to ensure that library visitors get the help & information they need!🕵️‍♀️

What does a Readers’ Advisory Group do? I am glad you asked...the Book Nerds Readers’ Advisory Group will help the library promote our leisure reading collection. The group will meet monthly and help us review current books, select new additions for the library collection, and plan bookish events, including silent book clubs and special library celebrations such as Banned Books Week and National Library Week. If you are interested in being a Book Nerd, please fill out the form linked in our bio👆and save the date for our first meeting on August 29, 2:00 PM in the SLM Library. 📚🎉

Meet Kaori! 👋 Kaori is our new work-study student at the SLM library. She is studying Meteorology and we are thrilled to have her as part of the team! 💙
Here’s a little bit about Kaori…favorite food is teriyaki chicken. Favorite movies are Tangled, Into the Spider-verse and Twister. Favorite books are the Avatar the last Airbender comics. Kaori’s hobbies are reading, working out, watching tv and playing video games. Her favorite board game is Sorry! or Uno and favorite video games are any Sonic or Kingdom Hearts game.

Congratulations to Josi Bell for winning the naming/logo design contest for the new HEA library space. Josi’s Heathrow Hub name and bookish logo won her $200 and some pretty great bragging rights! 🙌🏼
Josi is a talented student from the Interior Design program at SSC.💙After finishing a degree in legal studies, Josi found her real passion in creating environments for people with a comfortable and relaxing vibe. So back to school she went and started designing a new career. Josi has done projects in both residential and commercial design and loves working with furniture. Josi is definitely going places…including on her honeymoon! Not only is Josi graduating in December but she’s also a newlywed. We wish Josi all the best in her career and in life.💙
