Notetaking applications may also raise data privacy and security concerns for information processed here today that may be accessible and used by third-party vendors.

Artificial intelligence and the legal record Digital reporting and ASR come with risks to privacy and confidentiality.

Electronic recording equipment is already installed in all family law courtrooms in Los Angeles County Superior Court and the clerks have already been provisionally been trained to do electronic recording in anticipation of SB 662 passing in January. Even the DRA lobbyist Ed Howard told me it’s pretty sure to pass. An attorney today said they have “something in the works” to solve the problem of not having a reporter for her civil matter - her cryptic way of alluding to SB 662 passing, which will allow electronic recording in all unlimited civil, limited civil and family law cases in CA.

But what COULD happen before the vote is that we get them to adopt the language that the court and attorneys and agencies HAVE to use CoverCrow, Inc. to ensure they have exhausted their search for an available court reporter BEFORE they can electronically record a proceeding in civil or family law cases. We will have a fighting chance of ensuring that all civil court matters are covered by steno and/or voice reporters before alternative methods. We have a small window of time left to save our profession. Write to your senators and ask them to include this language in SB 662!!!

"I was pulled over today for speeding. The officer did not know me nor did I know him, but we each showed one another a mutual display of respect in our interaction. He was doing his job, and I had made a mistake in trying to hurry home to get started moving that lead to our path's crossing. He ran my information, and in the end we talked more about how our individual days were going, and the situations and circumstances within our society that have lead to interactions such as he and I's to play out much more negatively, some even deadly, than ours, than we talked about the situation that lead to him pulling me over. In the end we both thanked each other for our mutual displays of respect and agreed to take a "selfie" together to help tell our story. I can't stress enough that NO demographic and/or profession of people are all bad. Neither of us are the enemy. We can continue to fight against each other until we are literally "black and blue", or we can show one another the respect we inherently deserve, not as "black man" and "blue police officer", but as humans. None greater, none less... "
