Day 2 of the Leadership Symposium with Santa Ana Unified School District was a success for Team Washington! ๐ This morning, we were enlightened by our Framework for the Future and Graduate Profile, inspiring us to shape a brighter tomorrow. โจ Later, Orendaโs President and Founder, Robin Avelar La Salle, fueled our passion for systems change. We learned that โEquity lives where X marks the spot!โ๐ก Finally, Jennifer Wolfsheimerโs session on ableism opened our eyes to creating a more inclusive environment for our Patriots! ๐ โค๏ธ๐ค๐
The admin team at Washington attended many sessions that boosted our readiness to provide amazing leadership for our Washington Elementary Patriots. Guided by our core values of nurture, integrity, community, empowerment, and respect, weโre committed to โMaking a nicer tomorrow, one patriot at a time.โ Letโs continue leading with vision and heart! โค๏ธ

Washington Elementary is thrilled to welcome our new Assistant Principal, Mrs. Vivian Hanson! ๐
Mrs. Hanson brings 30 years of experience with SAUSD, including roles as interim principal at Pรญo Pico Dual Language Academy and assistant principal at Madison Elementary. ๐โ๏ธ
Sheโs taught grades 2-8, served as a literacy coach, and was an instructional coach at Washington Elementary from 2019-2021. ๐ซ๐ฉโ๐ซ
Mrs. Hanson is deeply rooted in our community, having attended McFadden Intermediate and Saddleback High School, and even lived in the Washington neighborhood! ๐ณ๐ก
Her passion is to collaborate with educators, parents, and community members to create a supportive environment full of opportunities for every child. ๐๐ค

We are excited for all of the amazing ๐คฉ learning we will experience over the next two days! Currently, we are getting inspired by Ericka Huggins and the student panel during the keynote this morning.

๐จโ๐๐ฅ Shoutout to the Orange County Fire Authority for an incredible visit, showcasing our core values of nurture and community! Our little ones were empowered with knowledge about fire safety, thanks to the firefightersโ dedication. Our Patriots were thrilled to meet the firefighters, see the firetruck, and learn about fire safety. Thank you for teaching them when to call 911 and what to do in case of a fire. The lights and sirens at the end were definitely a highlight! ๐๐จ๐ดโช๏ธ๐ต
