Calvary Christian School Santa Ana

Sharpening Minds & Transforming Hearts At Calvary Christian School we often use the phrase, "Sharpening Minds & Transforming Hearts," to describe our purpose.

We are committed to sharpening minds by providing challenging academics which promote critical thinking skills in Kindergarten through 8th grade. We seek the transforming of hearts through a nurturing environment that strives to instill Christian values. As teachers integrate rigorous academics and Christian values, students are equipped with a Christian worldview which serves as a their foundation to positively impact their world for Christ.

Tonight was the closing program for VBS
and our Ecuador team ended strong! Hundreds of kids and adults heard about Jesus this week! Our students worked hard, served faithfully and joyfully, and they loved well. They led worship, swept floors, cleaned bathrooms, picked up trash, held babies, made new friends, and grew in their relationships with Christ. Glory be to God!

Day 3 of VBS in Ecuador brought 335 kids to hear about Jesus! Our team is amazing, truly! They are working hard in the heat, playing with kids, cleaning bathrooms & sweeping floors, all without a single word of complaint!

They welcomed Pastor Matt to Ecuador this afternoon before enjoying some time off seeing sights around town, shopping, and a delicious dinner.

Please join the team in prayer for the last day of VBS and the special graduation ceremony tomorrow night. God is clearly moving and the team is excited to see what tomorrow holds!

🇪🇨It was Day 2 of VBS in Ecuador! 🇪🇨
🏀 Our team installed a small basketball hoop yesterday afternoon & it was an immediate hit! The boys loved having a new way to connect!
🌟More local children came to VBS today and our team is serving with hearts full of JOY! This week’s VBS theme is “Shine Jesus’s light” and they are doing just that!
🪣 This afternoon was spent cleaning bathrooms, mopping floors, and painting in the church building. It was definitely a new experience for our group! 🤩🎉

Today our team did an amazing job serving nearly 300 VBS attendees in Ecuador! They were flexible and happily served wherever they were needed. After lunch the team went back to the church building to clean and set up for tomorrow. They also prayed over each space being used for VBS. We are so thankful for this team and the opportunity to serve our Calvary Church missionaries in Ecuador.

Our 8th graders enjoyed their (chilly) last day in Washington, DC. ❄️❤️
⭐️The morning started with a visit to Theodore Roosevelt Island where one of our students shared some interesting info about our 26th President.
⭐️The next stop was at the Victims of Communism Memorial where another student shared her moving story of being adopted from China.
⭐️The group then spent the afternoon visiting several Smithsonian museums before heading out of the city.
⭐️They enjoyed dinner in Gettysburg at Dobbins House Tavern, built in 1776, followed by a fascinating tour of the Shriver House where they learned about one civilian family’s experience during the Battle of Gettysburg.

💫It was a special day for our 8th graders on Capitol Hill! After visiting the World War II Memorial, they headed to the Capitol where they had the honor of meeting with Rear Admiral Barry Black, Chaplain of the U.S. Senate.

💫Dr. Black shared the three steps to a happier, brighter life -
—Go the extra mile
—Stupid-proof your life by praying daily for wisdom
—Ask the Holy Spirit to fill and guide you
He shared Scripture, his incredible wisdom, and prayed for our students before one of our students prayed for him!

💫They visited the Udvar-Hazy Air & Space Museum, enjoyed dinner at the Fish Market, and ended the evening at the Jefferson Memorial!

🏠Our 8th graders spent the morning at the home of George and Martha Washington, Mount Vernon. After lunch in the quaint town of Alexandria, they went to the National Holocaust Museum where they had several hours to view the moving exhibits.

📜At the National Archives, they viewed the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. After a delicious pizza dinner, they visited the Air Force Memorial and the Pentagon Memorial.

❤️Our students are having a great timing but also have been so respectful and reverent in the places we have visited. Our staff and chaperones are extremely proud of our CCS students!

🇺🇸Day 3, Part 2🇺🇸
Our 8th graders visited the Museum of the Bible which is an absolutely amazing place! Then they visited the White House where they stopped to pray for the leaders of our country. A visit to the statue of Einstein and several memorials (Lincoln, Vietnam War & Korean War) was next on the agenda. Standing next to the Vietnam War Memorial, Lyla and her mom shared the story of her dad’s family leaving Vietnam after the war. It was definitely a night they won’t soon forget!

Our 8th graders stopped at the Iwo Jima Memorial before spending the morning at Arlington National Cemetery.

🇺🇸Four of our students had the honor of laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

🇺🇸Three of our students placed flowers and memorial rocks at the gravesite of the first victim of the war on terror.

It was a special morning remembering that freedom isn’t free as we honor and respect those who have sacrificially served our country.
