In the spirit of this graduation season, RCOC’s Board of Directors is “graduating” one of our own. At our June meeting, we recognized Cliff Amsden for serving as a member of our volunteer board for 15 years (with a one year break in between his seven year terms). During that time, he has chaired several board committees and been a vocal advocate of regional center services for people with developmental disabilities in Orange County and throughout California. We are grateful for his unwavering dedication, commitment, and passion for the work we all do here to support the lives of people we serve. Thank you, Cliff. You will be missed… we look forward to continue seeing you around in Orange County doing good things.

California’s Lanterman Act Available in Spanish/La Ley Lanterman de California Ya Está Disponible en Español
We’re excited to announce DDS has released the Spanish Translation of California’s Lanterman Developmental Disabilities Services Act. In recent years, Spanish-speaking communities have advocated for the translation of the law to better support individuals and families to understand their rights and access the services that they need. With their collaboration and the contracted work of Cal Interpreting & Translations (CIT), the Spanish-translated Lanterman Act is available on DDS' website.
Since 1969, The Lanterman Act has protected the rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and their families and remained the foundation of developmental services in our state. This translation of the landmark law is a crucial step supporting DDS’s ongoing priorities to increase language access and improve equity and inclusion across developmental services.
