Our students at Lydia Romero Cruz Academy had a fantastic time with their Artist Residency this spring.
In this residency they engaged in the art of storytelling, on this particular day they told the story of "A Royal Visit at Mexico Cityβs Bone Museum."
The smiles and laughter that ensued made it a truly amazing experience for our kid. One they'll never forget!
Today, we honor and remember the brave men and women who have sacrificed their lives for our country. Their courage and dedication inspire us to uphold the values of freedom and democracy πΊπΈ
As we honor their service, let us remember the importance of gratitude and respect for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
SAUSD Arts is partnering with Ryman Arts to bring exceptional art education to our students.
Ryman Arts, a FREE College Portfolio Preparatory program held on weekends at CSU Fullerton and Otis College of Art & Design, is offering after-school workshops at Century High School, Segerstrom High School, and Sierra Preparatory Academy.
While the weekend program is application-based, the afterschool workshops provide students with a taste of what to expect if they apply for the weekend college program and help them prepare their applications.
As an existing community partner, Ryman Arts also participates in events like Boca de Oro, enriching our community with their support and expertise.

We came back from spring break last week and hit the ground running!!
From our choral share, to our elementary artist residencies, and the CEO of Lang Lang foundation coming to visit one of our Keys of Inspiration campuses the week went by in a flash!
Canβt wait to see what the rest of the school year brings! π΅ππ»πΊπ»πΉ
As everyone heads to spring break, some of our students are headed on a grand adventure to Washington DC π«
Huge congratulations and best of luck to our Willard Jazz Ensemble as they head out to perform at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC as part of the Turnaround Arts Student Showcase. This special celebration is an exciting opportunity for students to highlight their artistic voices for each other and the nation.
For many of the students, this experience marks many firsts: their first time visiting Washington, D.C., their first time meeting students from other states, and their first time performing in a large theater. It will be an unforgettable experience for all involved!
Stay safe and have fun out there Jaguars! πΆπΈπ₯πΊπΉ
Check out these desks that were purchased with SAUSD Arts one time block grant!
The desks allow students to write, scribble, connect, and engage with their learning! It definitely changes the narrative from tagging a desk to engaging at your desk π¨

Go out and support local theatre! π
Last week, Mr. Maldonado and Valley Ceramics students welcomed Mendez Advanced Art into their class for an amazing hands on ceramics workshop!
They created scraffito name plates and nature slap impressions! Students had such a blast and within the first hour, were already asking when they could go back!
A huge thank you to Mr. Maldonado and his amazing studentsβ Marlene, Fernanda, Romario, Daniel, Damien, Jocelyn, Amber, and Steven for welcoming the Mendez students into their space, teaching students how to work with clay, and giving them a new love and learning experience with Ceramics!
βWe always strive for ways to help our students think creatively and open new pathways in the arts and this experience embodied that vision. I am grateful to have had this opportunity for the collaboration and see the positive effects on the Arts for both groups!β -Ms. Munoz, Mendez Fundamental Art Teacher
