Happy Spring! 🌸 As students take their much-deserved breaks, I thought I would share the initiative behind the Angels Wings Thai Scholarship. This unique scholarship is intended to recognize and honor Thai-American students who have demonstrated academic excellence, connection to their Thai community and heritage, and commitment to continue their education. The scholarship provides educational opportunities for Thai-Americans to make meaningful life changes through higher education. Each year, the foundation awards dozens of Thai-American students a scholarship of $5k or $10k for their JC/College expenses to support inspiring future students who demonstrate resilience, integrity, and determination- in hopes that they will become esteemed role models.

Applications for the Angels Wings Thai Scholarship are now open. The application deadline is June 14, 2024. Please visit our website for information on how to apply, and good luck!

I am overjoyed to announce that yesterday Angels Wings Foundation Int. awarded full scholarships to 16 exceptional students from across Thailand, representing 15 different provinces. These students are the future of Thailand, poised to become a nurse, doctor, mathematician, engineer, musician, paleontologist, teacher, entrepreneur, and scholars.

The virtual ceremony was an unforgettable experience, as I witnessed the immense pride of the students' families. I am beyond grateful to the honorable Governor of Bangkok, Chadchart Sittipunt, for his unwavering support of our students and this important initiative. I would like to also extend my heartfelt appreciation to Jack Ruenprpan, who served as our enthusiastic MC for the inaugural event.

Congratulations again to our very first class of AWF recipients in Thailand!! It is always exciting to support incredible students in achieving their academic goals and personal aspirations. I can't wait to see the incredible contributions they will make to Thailand and the world.

AWF Scholarship Initiative goes Global! I am thrilled to announce that the first ever recipients of the AWF scholarship initiative has been selected! 17 students from various provinces in Thailand will be awarded full scholarships to their universities. I am so looking forward to meeting this special class of students at our Zoom ceremony this Sunday as we celebrate them and their families for their dedication to their higher education.

Broadening Our Wings and Sharing Opportunities: Angels Wings Foundation Ambassadors Nok and Isaac promoted AWF’s US Scholarship opportunities at the Thai Temple during this weekend’s Thai New Year Festival. It was heartwarming to hear about the enthusiasm and gratitude towards our initiative.

Scholarship applications are now being accepted, with the deadline set for June 23, 2023.

On this auspicious occasion of the Thai New Year, let us take a moment to pay our respects to our elders. Their invaluable wisdom and guidance have been instrumental in shaping our lives, and it is essential to remain humble and grateful toward them.

In Thailand it is customary to do this through a Thai water ceremony. It also symbolizes the washing away of the negative narratives of the past and helps us to embrace a fresh start. May this new year bring forth positive possibilities 🙏

Thank you Consul-General Tor Saralamba, for your warm welcome. It’s been an honor working closely with the Thai Consulate to support the Thai youth in America. On this occasion, we spoke of the excitement around the growing success of the Angels Wings Thai Scholarship, and possible constructive activities for the Thai youth in Los Angeles in an effort to enhance their pride in our Thai culture and heritage.

While at the Consulate, I had the pleasure of meeting special diplomats and Consuls. My favorite surprise was running into a former AWF Scholarship recipient now working at the Thai Consulate. After graduation, Miss Sikarin joined the consulate and is working on her diplomat exams to serve the Thai Foreign Ministry. It is always a heartwarming moment for me to see or hear about any AWF student and their inspiring successes.

Gearing up for our Angels Wings Thai Scholarship initiative 2023! It’s always exciting when we start receiving our new rounds of applications and essays. I can’t believe it’s been seven years since we began this ambitious initiative for Thai students to attend college in the US. Time certainly flies when you’re working on things you love❣️ I am always rooting for our new class of scholarship seekers and wish them all good luck and on going success.

As we take our first step into another year of possibilities, I would like to honor the inspiring AWF Scholars for their academic successes and being the role models they are. Thank you Hello! Thailand for welcoming us back to Thailand. This visit was incredibly special to me as I returned home with my entire family after over 3 years of being unable to travel. It was such a pleasure to sit down with Hello! Thailand and share the many updates of my life. From the growth of my children to the Thai students that I am committed to helping through Angels Wings Foundation International, we covered so much that is near and dear to my heart. And to have my children by my side connecting with the students at the schools in Thailand is truly a gift to my heart. I am so proud to give as a family and to watch my children embrace my beloved culture and experience the importance of thinking of others, it is truly an extraordinary experience. We will forever hold onto the joy and growth from this wonderful visit and I look forward to returning again soon.

Congratulations to the 2022 College Freshman and Angels Wings Thai Scholarship recipients! This is one of my favorite times of the year, when I get to meet the extraordinary Thai scholars throughout the United States and their proud families. This year’s Scholarship Award Zoom Ceremony was made extra special with the attendance of Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt who imparted inspiring words of encouragement for our 53 recipients. I am so proud of the accomplishments and perseverance of each one of our students and it warms my heart to see their smiling faces ready to take on their new academic journey.

It was an honor to be invited to the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration office to meet the newly appointed Governor of Bangkok, Chadchart Sittipunt. I was impressed with his ambitious initiatives and his sincere attention to the education system. I look forward to working with Governor Sittipunt and the Minister of Education to provide the added support needed for the teachers and students in the public schools throughout Thailand.

It was such a joy to revisit the charming children of Koh Samui. There was a deep sense of gratitude and a wonderful collectiveness in the air. Through the eyes of my children I was able to fully appreciate the strengths and vulnerabilities in the youth today. Each student shares the same hopes, dreams and needs all in aspiration for a brighter future. Whether it is my own children or the children of this sweet village, every student deserves an opportunity to reach their full potential; and we at Angels Wings Foundation make it our mission to do this through the gift of education.

Back at last! It always warms my heart to share our initiative and highlight the importance of education in my homeland of Thailand.

Almost ready to announce our extraordinary recipients of 2022! I have to say that reviewing the final round of applications is always the hardest part of my job. Each and every student holds such promise, and I feel so much appreciation for their compelling stories of resilience and vision. Having to graduate through covid, my heart goes out to this unique class. I truly admire their fortitude and dedication to their education and it is clear that they have high aspirations to make an impact on the future for not only their generation but generations to come.

It is an honor to continue to work hand in hand with the Royal Thai Consulate in our efforts to extend our support to the Thai youth. Yesterday I met with Former Foreign Minister Kantathi Suphamongkhon and newly appointed Thai Consul General Tor Saralamba to discuss our 5th year of the Angels Wings Thai Scholarship initiative here in the United States and how exciting it is to be just two weeks away from meeting the next generation of AWF Thai Scholarship recipients. We are so excited to kick off our Angels Wings Thailand 2022 Scholarship season with a Zoom team meeting! I am truly looking forward to learning more about this years applicants. We will be partnering with schools throughout Thailand to identify the talented children most in need of financial support. Education is a vital opportunity and it is so important that we help to seek out those students - especially in the rural areas - that may otherwise be underserved and give them the invaluable opportunity to study at a University level.

In 2021 Angels Wings Foundation launched our AWF Thai Scholarship program in Thailand to offer aspiring high school students the opportunity to pursue a higher education. We immediately arranged a total of 32 scholarships to children in Phuket whose family income were affected by COVID-19. “In the midst of this pandemic we are seeing so many families unable to support their children’s education due to company closures and Covid related setbacks. It is my hope that this pandemic does not hinder the opportunity for young scholars to pursue their dreams,” said President Bui Simon.

Honorable Porntip Bui Simon, President and Founder of Angels Wings Foundation, moves forward with her fifth year of her educational scholarships. This is the second year that the scholarship is offered to Thai students who seek financial help for their educational studies across the United States.

Mrs. Porntip Simon said, “I [Bui] am proud of the outstanding 57 scholarship recipients. The foundation encourages education and celebrates their success through their hard work and appreciation of learning. Their dedication motivates me to continue to grow the scholarship more and more each year.”

Since the start of the Thai scholarships in the United States, Mrs. Simon selects students who excel academically, have perseverance to succeed in higher education, and have a desire to give back to their communities in the future. She reads all the essays and reviews all the applications along with her selection committee. Mrs. Bui Simon originally had plans to award 50 scholarships. However, this year, the stories she read in the essays showed her the hardships and challenges the ambitious applicants face. She says that “we all have it within us” to help the world today through trying to find solutions in these hard times.

The scholarship recipients were all thoughtfully selected as each of them are special. Mrs. Bui Simon realized that our future depends on the next generation and she wants to do whatever she can to support them.

The Angels Wings Foundation started over 30 years ago due to her personal desires to increase educational opportunities to students who lack the resources and opportunities in her native country of Thailand. Today, this foundation has grown to become an international foundation that affects the lives of students in many countries. Thai high school seniors in the United States who are about to enter their first year of university, community college or trade school, that meet the qualifications and submit all completed forms will be reviewed by a scholarship committee and will receive scholarships to fund their higher educational studies of $5,000 or $10,000 depending on their education.

Meet the exceptional 2021 Angels Wings Thai Scholarship recipients! I am tremendously proud of each and every one of these extraordinary scholars for their resilience, outstanding grades, compassion and tenacity to overcome the hardships they have faced to pursue their higher education. Their commitment to taking care of their families and contributions to their communities instills such confidence that I have no doubt these students will make a positive impact in the world. Wishing each and everyone of them continued success.

Once again Zoom allowed us to meet all of our students throughout the United States. It is important to me that we not only support the academic dreams of these inspiring students but that we celebrate their hard work and successes. Their gratitude and dedication to giving back to the community inspires me to continue to grow our scholarship outreach and to connect with even more students who are just as deserving.

Our world today is challenged with so many daunting issues, however, we have it within us to do our best to come together and create solutions. As I sit and review the reports and applications for our Angels Wings Scholarship initiative in Thailand, I am reminded of how the future belongs to the inspiring youth and that we need to do better in supporting them. We can start by listening.

This year’s selection process is competed! We had a wonderfully diverse group of talented, intelligent young scholars from throughout the United States. Reading each and every one of the applications that we received was incredibly heartwarming that I couldn’t select just 50 so the final count this year will be 55!!! Having read about their challenges and aspirations, I know that the extraordinary recipients this year are not only hard working and deserving but have overcome such obstacles to get to where they are today. I am looking forward to seeing what inspiring leaders they become in the future and hearing about the lives they will impact for the better. Congratulations to our 2021 recipients!!
