Gibbon Conservation Center

Vok was enjoying his yam this morning. He loves sitting in his mister so much that sometimes crystals form on his fur, and this time on his nose as well.

Rocky is growing up and enjoys spending time outside. He is getting fluffier every day! We would like to thank everyone who donated for his house. We are still raising funds for the small indoor area for him. This house will provide a safe and comfortable space for Rocky to play, nap, and spend the night, especially

Today was a special day for Rocky. His parents, Medina and Oula, were allowed to stay in his enclosure for a supervised visit. Rocky spends a lot of time playing outside, near his parents. Through the fencing, they can see him, and they can touch and groom him. These visits allow them to get more and more comfortable with each other and eventually reintroduce Rocky to his parents.

Marlow and U Mynt snuggling on their heated platform. They have been taking turns grooming and playing together.

While in grad school in Hungary, Gabriella Skollar was asked to record a gibbon in the local zoo. After many hours of early morning recording and observation, it became her passion to study gibbon vocalization.

Skollar's now the Director of the Gibbon Conservation Center in Santa Clarita and will share her work studying gibbon conservation and behavior at The LABC on January 31st.
