Why Your Home Could Be The Best Place To Birth.

Today's session goes into the focus of the training for providers, hospital midwives, and RN training that affect your labor and birth.

Do you think the OB-GYN, hospital midwife and RN training can affect your labor and birth?

Birth is a normal, natural phenomenon.

Yet the training for hospital providers and nurses focuses on what could be wrong or go wrong and intervene even for normal variations. The goal is prevention (of what could go wrong) and intervention.

6-8% of all pregnancies involve complications that, if left untreated, may harm the mom or baby.

Yet 98% of hospital birth have some type of medical intervention.

It was not until I trained as a birth doula (a non-medical support person for pregnant women during labor and birth) and especially a birth keeper that I learned more about normal anatomy and physiology of pregnancy, labor, and birth and variation of normal.

OBGYNs, by their training, are surgeons. They fix by cutting by abdominal surgery, the cesarian section.

OBGYN Hospital midwives are trained to treat high-risk pregnancies and births.

The hospital environment focuses on intervening, especially if there is a variation from normal.

The focus of hospital provider training is not that birth is a normal physiological phenomenon, a woman's ability to give birth, or the baby's physiological movement through the birth canal.

This has a huge effect on what happens in labor and birth at the hospital.

What are your thoughts on this does the training focus of Doctors Midwifes and RN have effect on birth?

Stay tune…. See you next Tuesday to learn why your home could be the best place to give birth.

Your home could be the best place to give Birth.

Your environment matters for labor & Birth.

The Home Vs. the Hospital Environment.

Be sure to catch the next video over the next month on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Also, feel free to DM to learn more about home vs. hospital birth.

Home

Quite, low lighting, little interruption, movement freedom

A sense of calmness

Relaxed

Openness

Hospital

Noise, bright light, interruptions, restriction on movement.

A sense of anxiety

Anxiety cause one not to feel safe

You are in fight, flight, freeze,

Restriction

Closure of your body.

Labor and Birth take a state of being calm and relaxed.

Being in a place where the environment is already affecting your nervous system is not ideal. (the hospital)

See you Thursday for the next episode of How Your Home Could Be The Best Place To Birth.

A question I ask myself to help me have discernment : Am I living by faith or by fear?

I was living in fear and not following my heart. I was a RN for 21 years and all my limiting beliefs were stopping me in my tracks. May 18, 2021 I took the big step of leaving my well paying job as a RN which I did enjoy and I took the step of faith to follow my dream of supporting pregnant women through pregnancy and birth.

One year later almost to the date. I took another leap of faith and stopped doing hospital births. I had been under the illusion that the hospital was the ideal and safest place to birth for most births.

Boy, was I wrong.

I saw first hand how the medical system is a broken system for Birth.

Women's bodies are not broken, pregnant women are not diagnosed, and the medical system does not need to tell women how to give birth and it does not need to intervene.

Today in the US 98% of births are hospital births.
The hospital is what is normal and what we often think is the safest and Ideal place to birth.

However it is not. (more to come on this in the near future stay tuned…)

Affirmations or mantras

During birth, they can make a difference.

Saying affirmations as mantras can get you into a rhythm to help you through the next surge/contraction.

They have a way of easy the mind.

Birth
To bring forth. The coming into existence of something

What are we bringing forth?

Trust in your body,
Your autonomy.

Or trust in the system that is broken

The journey of pregnancy is just important as the birth.

Pregnancy is a time to get prepared for your Birth.

If all is going well and there is no high risk medically, why not home birth?

What is the hesitation?

What would help make the decision easier?

πŸ‘‰Is it the thought of the possible expense?
πŸ‘‰Is it because no one in your family has had a birth at home or your friends have not done it?
πŸ‘‰Is it because your partner says, "I do not think so?
πŸ‘‰Is it because there is doubt that something
might go goes wrong?

Whatever the reason, you might think it is impossible. Remember, flip the script to I'm Possible.

Stepping into the unknown can be a scary thing.

I know about scary.

I left my RN job to start my heart-based business to support women who want to give birth at home. I had all the questions listed above and more.

I followed my dream and started to take steps. I got the support; I did not loan wolf it.

There are ways to support yourself and prepare and be ready for one of life's most incredible experiences of giving birth.

How Can I support you? Reach out to me, and let's see if working together in some capacity would be helpful for you.

In the meantime.
Some possible affirmations that might help.
I Trust the process of birth.
I believe I can, and so I will.
My Body was designed to do this.
Giving Birth is a natural, everyday experience.

I Wanted to Share some highlights from one of the talks from the summit, "Trusting Birth," highlights.

Birth teaches you
It teaches you what you need to learn.
Birth might be what you wanted or expected; however, it was what you needed for your journey.

Birth is not a destination. It is a journey. To teach us what we need to learn.

Birth is not an isolated incident. It is the result of everything that has gone before and in between

How we give birth is the cumulation of our life thus far. A readout of our mindset, beliefs, attitudes, and the fears that we get from our culture and our last rite of passage.

One passage leads to the next rite of passage.

How did you deal with their previous right of passage? Your first period, connection with our period, childhood trauma, and how we were born. Mother line Red line. Theme. (ancestor line)

It is not as simple as you showing up with your birth plan.

We come at a fork in our path, the usual wounded pathway or the healed way. You have to realize you are. And you have to be willing to heal. It does not mean it means it will be easy and perfect.

Inner work for the healed pathway
conscious and intention to do the healing that is needed.

Jane Hardwick Collings talks from the summit for Trusting Birth. August 2022.

Join Me tomorrow, Friday, 9/9 2 12 as
I interview about her home birth.

A share from Jincy
I had heard about home birth (6 yrs back) and shut it off as crazy, unsafe, and unthinkable for me.

It was a normal and β€œsafe” delivery and I fit into the β€œMom and baby are healthy” cliche. However, it came at a price beyond what I could perceive.

Life took me on a journey. Our 2nd child was delivered in the comfort and convenience of my home.

This was not about doing it my way. It was about learning what my body was capable of, trusting what I and the child in my womb were already created for.

It was about complete surrender from a place of knowing rather than from a place of fear/doubt.

I wished expecting parents would know and experience the difference, but I never took the courage to talk or share about this till I heard Divya recently..(Divya is a previous Home Birth CafΓ© guest

It is hard to find reliable information that empowers a couple to look at facts and objectively evaluate whether home birth is worth it. Much information on this topic is polarized. Also, most people think homebirth is for rookies, and it is highly messy and unsafe, and they would not even bother to look at the facts (that was me at one time, so I understand!)
