2024 Positive Impact Grant
The Harbor High Library's Project LIT Book Club would like to thank the Santa Cruz Ed Foundation for our 2024 Positive Impact Grant! (https://sceducation.org/positive-impact-grants-2024/) We used our impact grant to purchase copies of the book "Accountable" by Dashka Slater.
The Project LIT Book Club invited Harbor High staff to read this book concurrently with them and we held a staff/student book discussion in April. We discussed themes of racial injustice and how that can play out in social media, especially for teens. Our attendees agreed unanimously that everyone, especially high school teachers, should read this book!
The books will remain in the Harbor High collection for use by English teachers for classroom literature circles and/or checkout by students and staff. We appreciate the Santa Cruz Ed Foundation's sponsorship as we "increase access to culturally relevant books and promote a love of reading in our schools and communities." ()
Sincerely,
The Project LIT Book Club
