Our student Spotlight shines bright today on River, from our Community Dog Training Classes benefiting ! Abandoned and matted, River was rescued while roaming alone on the streets of Los Angeles. Laid back and kind, River left her days on the streets behind, and now enjoys low-key loving home, boasting a revealing makeover to boot. With endless enthusiasm, she joined course and easily excelled in class! And as her guardians warned, she most definitely stole our hearts too! Which begs the question, "Who rescued who?" This stunning beauty is polite, gentle, and has a chill factor of 10+. But this little lady is also a rocket that can easily unleash her athleticism with dexterous leaps, and adventitious sniffing. The private dog training inquiry went like this: "Mister has no manners!" Independent in his choices, but motivated by the urge to always have fun, our client spotlight today shines bright on Mister, the boisterous fella who began his private dog training journey with us in 2021. Now graduated into a refined young man with skills on leash, Mister has learned the concept of "time and place" with his over-exuberance, but has never surrendered his unrelenting spirit to march to the beat of his own drum with nonstop energy to burn... which from time-to-time can call for a little training refreshers to remind him to reel it. Among his talent is mastering the art of being stubborn -- especially when prompted to give us his best pose -- and being cute at the same time. Now Mister would be the first to declare that he's a mama's boy always giving her the last word. On this throwback Thursday, our client spotlight shines bright on Chewy, our beloved cat care client who kept us on our toes through a glorious span of time. Chewy is the epitome of irresistible! Obviously eye-candy, cute was achieved in his excellence of snuggling adorably in your lap, always belly up for play, and nudging his nose on your palm for pets, loudly purring in approval. He could teach you a thing or two about the art of elegantly basking in the sun, taking endless naps in the luxury of your freshly cleaned laundry, and making you perceive the scratches he left on the furniture are a masterpiece of "cat art." Perfect in every way, caring for Chewy was no work and all play. So when he moved away, trading Santa Monica Beaches for the shores of San Diego, we missed him dearly, and continue to long for the chance to care for him another day. Go Chewy, GO! 🐈❤️

A happy of 4th of July to the humans, but it can be a distressing one for pets! Let's curb that...🇺🇸

🐾 🎾 Provide your pets with exercise, games, and stimulation PRIOR to the evening and fireworks which can make them less sensitive to noise, helping to prevent stress later.

🐾🏠 Keep your pets inside and eliminate escape routes!

🐾 🦴Establish a safe, fun, and comfy zone in your home that they already love, and can be secured.

🐾 🌟 Make it awesome! Provide bedding, food, water, high value treats, toys, games, and activities. Throw yourself in the mix!

🐾📻 Drown out the noise! Play familiar music and soothing sounds.

🐾 ☀️ If your pet must go outside, supervise them, and limit it to enclosed areas like a yard, patio, or a secure balcony.

🐾 🐕‍🦺 If your dog will will be out with you, keep your dog secure and closer to you on a short leash. ID tag should be attached to them, with microchip up-to-date, and use reflective dog walking equipment so that they are more visible at night.

🐾 🚫 Avoid hazards! Supervise them around food, alcohol, barbecue grills, and clear the area of any food scraps and debris.

🐾 🆘 If they escape, act fast! Report your pet missing to your local animal control, send out alerts on social media, post flyers around the neighborhood, and contact neighbors, friends, and family.

🐾 🚗 Search outside of your home or in the area that they were last located. Small pets and cats don't go far, while dogs can venture long distances.

On this Wednesday, we're taking it way back to our beloved dog walking client Bentley! Bentley joined our dog care family at 7 years old in the summer of 2017. With his magnetic personality, we quickly could not get enough of him! Each walk, he greeted us with anxious anticipation to embark on the adventure that lied ahead. His curiosity and probing mind always found something interesting on our path, making each day new and exciting. Whether the day was bright or wet, his perpetual smile kept our hearts warm, even on the coldest day. And with an endless pep in his step, each walk was lovely trot, and we felt honored that he always made room for us in his dance card. But it was his kindness and gentle love, his courage and resilience, and his loyalty and open heart that made us feel like we were his best friends forever. Then, in 2020, Covid came and he and his family moved away. Alas, we lingered on our days with him, and continue to long for our much overdue reunion. Still, our hearts are filled with glee knowing that Bentley, now 14 years young, remains a perfect gentleman, enjoying his golden years relaxed with his family, pampered, happy, and even more loved and perfect than when we met him so long ago. Go Bentley, GO! ☀️🐕‍🦺💞

Today our spotlight shines bright on the ever so dashing, Milo, who has rejoined our private dog training program as a young man, after having previously enjoyed our program as a puppy! Now keen on maintaining his gentleman status, he seeks to refine his obedience by mastering the ways of the leash with chivalry and decorum, no matter the road's encounters.
