Join us on Wednesday, May 1 at 7:00 pm to learn about musical instruments, speak with the musicians, and listen to the 70+ member orchestra rehearse. This is a golden opportunity for students to learn about instruments offered in elementary and middle school. All grades are welcome!
7:00-7:30 pm: Meet with musicians and have a “hands-on" experience with instruments.
7:30-8:00 pm: Sit next to a musician during the rehearsal of classic movie music, including music by composer John Williams.

The Santa Monica Symphony’s spring concert will whisk you away on a Roman Holiday with Rossini’s beloved Overture from William Tell and Mascagni’s elegantly beautiful Intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana. This concert also features Andrew Bain in Eric Ewazen’s brilliant Concerto for Horn and String Orchestra, then transports you to Italy in Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 4.

The Santa Monica Symphony welcomes the return of Gary Pratt for his third season as guest conductor of the annual MLK Holiday concert. With his deep commitment to musical excellence and dynamic conducting style, Maestro Pratt is a revered figure who consistently delivers captivating and emotionally resonant concerts. The MLK Holiday concert, a cherished tradition in the community, takes on a special significance under Pratt's skilled direction, as he infuses the program with the spirit of unity and diversity.
In partnership with the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Westside Coalition, the Santa Monica Symphony commemorates the legacy of Dr. King with its annual MLK concert on Saturday, January 13.

In partnership with the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Westside Coalition, the Santa Monica Symphony commemorates the legacy of Dr. King with its annual MLK concert on Saturday, January 13. Guest conducted once again by Gary Pratt, this special afternoon concert begins with Quinn Mason’s celebratory Toast of the Town and George Walker’s enduring Lyric for Strings featuring dancers Bernard Brown and Mawiyah Dowd. The second half features the passionate Lift Ev'ry Voice and Sing with Mary Bond Davis and the West Coast premiere of John Clayton’s Home featuring John Daversa, Jermaine Paul, and Darrel Sims. The concert concludes with We Shall Overcome led by orator extraordinaire Tonoccus McClain.

The Santa Monica Symphony welcomes Roger Wilkie as its new concertmaster for the 2023-24 season and soloist at our 79th Season Premiere concert for Camille Saint-Saëns' spine-tingling "Danse Macabre."
Mr. Wilkie has been the concertmaster of the Long Beach Symphony for over 30 years and boasts a varied career as a soloist, chamber musician and studio musician. He has participated in the soundtracks of over 1000 films as well as television recordings. Mr. Wilkie has the honor of serving as concertmaster for John Williams’ scores for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Indiana Jones IV, Munich, and Memoirs of a Geisha.
Join the Santa Monica Symphony this Saturday, October 14, for our Night at the Museum concert at the JAMS Performing Arts Center. The performance includes music from the "Indiana Jones" films by John Williams and "Danse Macabre" by Saint-Saëns, which features Roger Wilkie on violin.
