Greetings Willowside Community;
Kalimera! Another memorable Greek week is in the books. The brave 6th graders gave speeches, read poems, performed plays and competed in classical Greek sports like javelin, discus and foot races. There were many memorable moments— the city state cheers, gathering on the medal podium, and collecting the praises of teammates. Each year at Willowside 6th grade teachers uphold this tradition in a spirit of fun and collaboration.

Willowside 6th grade had a blast camping at Calaveras Big Tree State Park this week! We hiked many miles, played games, performed skits, ate s'mores and much more!
Thanks to our fabulous teachers Ms. Niedermair, Ms. Kai and Ms. Dobler as well as our amazing chaperones: Rian, Chris, Philip, Allison, Vanny, Devin S., Devin D., Greg, and Andres for putting their lives on hold for a week!

This week Mrs. Henry, Mrs. Flores and Mrs. Blondin’s classes welcomed incredible visiting artist Ane Carla Rovetta into their classrooms. Ane Carla Rovetta, a local illustrator and storyteller, led the students through an incredible story and chalk art drawing surrounding steelhead trout. This was an art connection to their current science unit in which the classes are raising actual steelhead trout in their classrooms for release into the Russian River in April. The kids were so engaged and created some amazing pieces of art.
