The quality of a hand-made gelato depends on various factors which we call characteristics and which involve several aspects of the product.

Gelato is more dense, has less fat, and is served at warmer temperatures than ice cream. It turns out, the difference between good gelato and not-so-good gelato are pretty easy to spot...Color, Height, Storage.

Dulce de leche, translating to “sweet of milk” in Spanish, is a thick, creamy, caramel-like sweet. It has a spreadable consistency that’s noticeably thicker than drizzle-ready caramel sauce, so it’s often used as a topping or filling for foods like wafer cookies, churros and cakes.
Also known as caramelized milk and dulce de leche in English, dulce de leche is made by slowly boiling milk and sugar and stirring constantly until the mixture is golden.

Obviously everyone understands why the US and Italy are, but many are in doubt about Brazil and Argentina. Well, today this post is to talk about it. We are a family of Brazilians and Argentines. In the south in Brazil, where we are from, and in Argentina we have a strong influence of Italian culture, as well as German.

In the mid-1870s, the first Italian immigrants arrived, timidly, in the South, forming what would become a part of Italy outside the “country of the boot” at the end of the 19th century. Coming from Veneto, Trento and Lombardy, these Italians came to Brazil, in search of new hopes in South American lands. Genoa became one of the cities with the highest number of ships departing with Italians bound for Brazil over the following decades, especially with the high job offer it had in the southern region of the country.

So we have Italian blood running through our veins, we carry in our DNA the influence of good food, in our case… a good Gelato!
