Brian Hommel Home Improvement, LLC, one of the fastest-growing home improvement firms in the Hudson Valley, has an immediate opening for an Estimator. This is a permanent, full-time position.
Job responsibilities include:
- Estimating project costs and developing client proposals and specifications
- Performing drawing takeoffs and estimating material quantities
- Reviewing plans, raising/resolving questions and concerns regarding the plans and scope, identifying special requirements, and developing a complete understanding of each job
- Coordinating and compiling subcontractor bids and vendor quotes
- Research of specialty items, newly released building materials, etc
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Selecting and negotiating with vendors when purchasing materials and specialty items
- Issuing Purchase Orders and Work Orders during construction
- Assisting in the review of vendor/subcontractor invoices
- Participating in post-completion project review
- Providing administrative and technical support to Production Team, researching and providing information as needed
- Interact with company management, production team, subcontractors, vendors, clientele, architects, engineers, and other trade professionals.
- Office related tasks including minor bookkeeping & record keeping.
Minimum Requirements include: (We are willing to train an employee that has a positive attitude & passionate desire to learn.
- Experience in residential planning and estimating, or construction management education and/or related field experience is helpful
- Personal integrity, ethics, and commitment to excellence in everything you do
- Positive attitude, "can-do" mentality, team player personality that is unstoppable
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong time-management skills with a focus on meeting deadlines while multitasking
- Strong skills in problem-solving, negotiation
- Proficient with technology, e-mail applications, & Quickbooks.

• Exceptional communication abilities with our field crew, clients, bookkeeper / accountant, building departments, etc.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Approving payroll time-sheets
• General office duties (filing, record keeping, typing, scanning etc.)
• Knowledge of computers, and Quickbooks a plus.
• Improve business processes by collaborating with clients, colleagues, and other cross functional teams.
