Full update on Asher as of this afternoon

Friday when we arrived at Vanderbilt ER his oxygen was between 84-86. He was working super hard to breathe on his own. After a few hours of sitting in the ER waiting on test results and everything to come back he tested positive for an upper respiratory virus. The medical team in the ER decided it was best to have him admitted. Upon being admitted he has needed to be on oxygen. Even with oxygen he was still working hard to breathe. They brought us to icu a couple nights ago because they are able to provide higher flows and oxygen that our other floor was not able to give. Over the last 2 days Asher has been up and down. He has made overall progress but there's been a few bumps in his road to recovery. They have tried over the last 2 days to lower his oxygen intake to try to get him where he is at a flow of 5 so he can be moved back to the other floor but when gets dropped to 6-8 he starts working harder to breathe so they have to go back up again. They haven't been sure what's causing him to work harder to breathe it could be inflammation in the airways, pneumonia or possibly the upper right part of his lung could be collapsed. They have done X-rays and said that his upper right lung has a hazy area. They started him on antibiotics and intense breathing treatments a few days ago. As of this morning they don't plan on doing another xray they are going to continue with antibiotics and breathing treatments. They have him on a lower flow and plan to continue to decrease as his body lets them. Once he can maintain at 5 and 6 he will be able to start his feeding again.

She has also informed us he is maintaining his oxygen at an 8 currently so prayers he continues dropping down lower on that number!

A member of the Fresh start coffee family needs your help!!
Our manager, Aurora Kelly, a local girl, raced her two year old son, Asher, to Vanderbilt hospital this Friday due to a severe lack of oxygen that has resulted in further complications. She has growing bills as the result of her sweet boy and an almost week in the Hospital/ICU with no clear idea when they will be discharged. She has been at his side, a praying Mama, while he battles for life. She hasn't been able to work and bills are growing....HELP

Alisha is one of our newest hires and she has been such a great addition to the Fresh Start Family! We love her sass, and sense of humor. She is excellent with customers and makes a pretty dang good cup of coffee! Happy 25th ;) to this beautiful woman and thank you for giving us the opportunity to get to work with you! This "Tequila Sunrise" Lotus has Cherry, Lime and Orange and yes it's missing the actual tequila but we promise you it is still delicious!

Our sweet Clara has officially left us to go begin her college career! She worked her last shift with Bethany and Alyssa yesterday and boy did they get into some trouble! She very dramatically made "Her last drink ever" while three of us watched, and honestly even though we are so sad to lose her, we feel so lucky to have been a part of her life even for just a short time! We pray all the success in this world for you Clara!

One of our customer favorites is our Irish White Mocha but we think that just a classic Irish Cream Latte is equally delicious! Come try one today or grab one without ice for tomorrow!
