The seasons of greatest joy can also come with our biggest challenges and having a new baby is prime time for these forces to collide.
Savannah-based therapist, Bridget Cross, LCSW, PMH-C, is our local mental health expert for the perinatal period β everything from trying to conceive to postpartum. Sheβs shared her story and the reason sheβs so dedicated to helping local moms through her group, Nurture Community Support, in our interview.
The group, started in 2017, starts up again this September 18, 2024 in Savannah, GA. Read on to learn more.

Please share widely and help us support the grieving family of an incredible local mom who we lost last week, Nykky Nicole Floyd. She was 32 years old and passed away after giving birth to her second son in Savannah.
Nykky was passionate about advocating for our community's moms who struggle in pregnancy and postpartum, and was deeply committed to improving Black maternal health in Georgia. We are heartbroken for her family β her husband, Jalil, and her two sons, Khyri and Ehren.
Please help care for this family right now. Any amount helps. π€

In honor of World Maternal Mental Health Day, we want to share this quick reminder that if you are struggling during pregnancy, postpartum, or while trying to conceive, or after a loss, or after a traumatic birth, or just in motherhood generally: you are not alone.
All three of us in this photo are here for you, and we've been there with you. It's a big part of why we do this work. As are our cute kids, even when they are grumpy. π
Support is out here, mamas. Don't go it alone!

Welcome to Maternal Mental Health Month!
If you're looking for a wonderful and easy way to work toward improved maternal health in our state AND directly help moms who are struggling, please DONATE to the Georgia Fund for Perinatal Mental Health!
π: gofund.me/685c2a24
Every dollar raised provides fully funded therapy to perinatal moms and parents across our state who are unable to access appropriate care.
Welcome to Maternal Mental Health Month!
This month promises to offer so many resources, stories, encouragement, and hope for moms or parent who are trying to heal. Itβs beautiful to see so many FB accounts working to reduce stigma and raise awareness about mental health issues like PPD, PPA, PPOCD, birth trauma, and beyond.
Here in Georgia, SO many perinatal moms struggle mightily to gain access to essential mental health care β the need is great but the help is just not available. The Georgia Fund for Perinatal Mental Health aims to meet this need, one mama at a time, by providing FULLY FUNDED therapy sessions to perinatal parents across the state. We currently have 17 moms on our wait list who are in need of support.
In honor of MMH month, please consider DONATING to help these parents get the mental health support they need and deserve! Every dollar raised goes DIRECTLY to providing fully funded therapy with a specialist.
Donate HERE!: gofund.me/685c2a24
And please stay tuned for info on some exciting new ways to support our fund this month! π§‘
