The Paris Market

http://www.theparismarket.com/ The Paris Market and Brocante, 36 West Broughton Street, is located in the heart of historic Savannah.

This irresistible invitation to shop the world’s most exotic and exclusive markets is the brainchild of owner Paula Danyluk. A love of world travel combined with a quirky design style quickly led Paula and her husband, Taras, across the globe. Their initial timid forays into the Parisian ‘Marche aux Puces’ ignited a passion that soon led to the chaotic, intoxicating bazaars of Cairo (Khan el-Khali

With a final taste of meringue on my tongue, and more than a few shopping bags sneaked past security, I bid Paris adieu.

My final days in the city were dedicated to sightseeing and retail therapy-from Bon Marché with its gorgeous shop displays to lunch at the Rose Bakery Tea Room. I stocked up on art supplies at a small painter’s palace, perfume at Fragonard, and made one final stop by Astier de Villatte’s new showroom (more on that later).

This is my favorite place on earth for a reason, and already I’m flipping through my calendar to see when I can make it back.

Until then.
Fin.

Blue Story- unfolds like a serene coastal scene, where the deep navy hues of the ocean meet the soft, white pearl-like glow of an oyster shell. It’s a moment of calm, where the elegance of heron feathers mirrors the tranquil contrast between sea and shore, creating a narrative of quiet, vintage beauty.

Chapter Six: Jupiter Artland

Imagine what you might do if you suddenly inherited a grand estate, complete with acres of lush, green grounds and crumbling stone walls. What might you do if you came across one that’s empty, longing to be filled?

This is a story repeated dozens of times over across Europe, with many old homes transformed into fantastical wedding venues or living museums—but Jupiter Artland must be my favorite of all because when the Wilsons bought Bonnington House in the 1990s, it was determined that the land existed for art.

And after nearly three decades of work, I think it’s safe to say their original vision remains true.

As of 2024, 36 artist commissions have found permanent residence along the Jacobean estate, scattered across 100 acres of woodland and fields. Scattered throughout are an additional 35 temporary exhibits that cycle throughout the seasons. But rather than being overly-structured or clear, Jupiter Artland is a place meant for wandering, made of immaculate gardens with hidden surprises around every corner.

Here are some of my favorites!

1. “Gateway” by Portuguese artist Joana Vasconcelos. Every tile is hand-made, coordinated in an explosion of color leading to a central pool just in front of the house!

2. The “Weeping Girls” by Laura Ford, a series of 5 statues that aren’t marked on the estate map but rather meant to be stumbled upon as you explore.

3. “Suck” by Anish Kapoor, a renowned sculptor. It resembles a wishing well locked in a cage!

4. “Cells of Life” by Charles Jencks: a beautiful series of earthen mounds tucked right at the entrance.

Scotland: Chapter Two

Abercairny Estate is a quiet wonder that’s existed for centuries, home to the second oldest living thing in the UK, and a small stone chapel that’s remained largely untouched for five hundred years. If you wander the cemetery, you might accidentally cross over plots dating back to the 1300s, when the Moray family first claimed the land as their home. Purple-topped thistles and wildflowers weave through the landscape, leading curious minds down a path to a Yew tree that’s stood for a thousand years.

This is why I wish everyone could travel at some point in their lives.

There is nothing quite like standing on the precipice of time itself, touching stones that were first lain five generations ago, hearing the same birdsong that a Scottish lord might have paused to listen to in the far past. And though the original estate no longer stands due to age and deterioration, the bones of it remain.

It was on these grounds that our travel guide surprised me with a birthday cake and a picnic by the water, where a flock of geese and their little ones swam. On a private tour we got to see fairy houses someone built into a few trees, and a series of statues I was desperate to take home.

Perthsire did not disappoint.

I’ve written about what motherhood means to me, in newsletters and former posts. I’ve shared pieces of my own journey in becoming this elusive, beautiful thing—an elusive decade of struggle, longing, and loss. Even as the nurses brought London to us, squishy and soft and so brand new, I was terrified to believe it was true. That she was mine, and I was hers.

So it is not lightly that I wish you all a Happy Mother’s Day.

To the moms who wanted it, but couldn’t. To the moms whose wildest dreams came true. To those whose path was years in the making, or whose dreams changed with time. To the moms who aren’t moms, but take on that cherished role. To the woman who made it possible for me to at last be a mom, and to London—my treasure and light.

Happy Mother’s Day.

A playful scattering of charms dwells across the sea collector’s throat, gathered from coastal waters in a glittering song of the sea. Pearls for wisdom, a sand dollar for rebirth, glass stones for light, and golden shells linked by a slender, stick chain.

We’re obsessed with this look by paired with California sunshine and Malibu beaches.

A memory today, of a misty afternoon spent in the Trudon store of Paris, France last summer.

Founded in 1643, Claude Trudon sold his first candle out of a small Parisian shop that would someday hold the Royal Wax Manufacture, and be the only one of its time to innovate perfectly white beeswax candles that would then supply the Imperial court of France.

But I can never pick a favorite between the candles, room fragrance, and wax busts.

After a two years long absence, we finally have absinthe fountains back in stock!

This two spout fountain is a reproduction of a vintage, 19th century Belle Époque piece with a lid adorned with the classic “pineapple” finial. Pour an ounce of absinthe into a glass with a spoon perched on top, and then release ice cold water over a cube of sugar.

Expect this process to perfume the air with fennel, grand wormwood and anise. The combination also begins to turn milky white in color, as the water mixes with the anise.

Turn your Saint Patrick’s Day party into a proper fete! And find these pieces online.

“We went down into the silent garden. Dawn is the time when nothing breathes, the hour of silence. Everything is transfixed, only the light moves.”

We are mesmerized by the ending of another year, the dawn of the next. In our first newsletter of 2023, we declared it the year of the artist—and that’s proved true with our pop-ups and personal projects in home design.

I hope to inspire you as we wrap up the final evening, and figure out what next year will be.

Find out in our first newsletter of 2024, January 1st.

A Study in Fairy Tales, by

If you haven’t yet surmised, we fallen aristocrats adore fairy tales.
Not the saccharine stories filled with song—but the dark ones. The Grimm. Drama drenched in sweet shadow, hearts torn apart by love, velvet-green forests and enchanted mirrors decadent with hidden jewels.

Collect them for yourselves, these legends captured in stone and glass. Are you a queen driven mad? A sorceress building her own ivory tower, or the lost princess tucked inside?

What role do you play in fairy land?
